We already know that Gevey turbo sim unlocks your iPhone 4 if your network handles 112 calls as per the GSM standard.But there was this news that many iPhone users were breaking law by dialing emergency number just for the sake of getting an unlock.Before going to the main point let me give what are the cons of this method.

If you know, GSM mobile phone standard designates 112 as an emergency number, and that means to say that emergency calls can be made without a SIM card or if there is no signal and even if the phone is locked. In North America GSM systems redirect emergency calls to 911, or Australia where emergency calls are redirected to 000.

Now suppose if you call 112 without having an emergency, or you call up and then hang up, you are making a hoax call. If 112 lines or call operators are busy with hoax calls, someone with a real emergency may not be able to get the help needed. In most countries, it is a criminal offence to make hoax 112 calls. This might land-up you in jail with heavy fine.Operators can easily identify the number from which the emergency call is made. In this case an IMEI number appears on their screen that can be used to identify the calls made from that specific phone. Investigations will then lead to the owner of the phone.

Yes, in order to use Cydia package you need to jailbreak your iPhone 4 first.
