Microsoft will ship Windows 8 for desktop pc’s and tablets next year 2010 and the updated Windows Phone 7 will have 500 new features said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. He adds

As we progress through the year, you ought to expect to hear a lot about Windows 8. Windows 8 slates, tablets, PCs, a variety of different form factors.

This was said when he announced the Mango update for Windows phone 7.Announcing that the company has sold over 350 million Windows 7 PCs this year, he said: “We have done a lot in Windows 7 to improve customer satisfaction. We have a brand-new user interface. We have added touch and ink and speech. And yet, as we look forward to the next generation of Windows systems, which will come out next year, there is a whole lot more coming.

Calling the release of Windows Phone 7 in November “about a year later than I wish we had”, the Microsoft chief said: “But we are moving forward very actively. We launched Windows Phones last November. We have done a set of upgrades. We have a release that will come to market later this year in Japan. Not only is it a new release that is now much more global, but we have added over 500 new features to Windows Phone.”

Interestingly, Microsoft had played up Windows Phone 7 at the November launch by dubbing iPhone and Google Android devices as ‘faulty’ in design.

“It (Window Phone 7) really speaks to our commitment to understanding what consumers want, and our resurrection in the mobile category,” Todd Peters, corporate vice president of the Mobile Communications Marketing Group, had said.

Facebook collabs with Spotify – Online Music Streaming is a post from: Tech Mania.Check out more of the latest news by Subscribing to feed

This report comes from Forbes that Facebook is collaborating with Swedish music streaming company Spotify to come up with  online music streaming rather than itself coming with new streaming feature. What you will see in this new feature is a small Spotify icon on the left hand side of the Facebook news feed.

You will need to download the app first which would be happening in the background which will provide users with access to Spotify's massive library of songs.I searched the facebook and i already found a spotify app there so i feel this app would be more complex and would include this feature in the near future.Don’t expect this one to be out in India soon as Spotify's services are currently available only in select few European countries including the UK and France. US launch is coming soon, but has been taking a lot of time than what it was expected.

What Spotify will benefit from Facebook is the huge list of user accounts which in turn might lead to more subscriptions on the premium front. For the free users they can listen only 10 hrs per month. For music addicts this won’t last even for 3 days.
