You have to see these video's to believe it. When the camera moves at different angles, it appears as if the picture in the painting is moving. Described as 'reverspective' or 'perverspective', these paintings appear to change their form in relation to the position of the viewer. For Hughes, "art has been a means of intellectual enquiry rather than an end itself. His paintings are machines designed to change the way we think about the world. The art of representation has always been linked to knowledge and understanding of the external world and the ways in which we perceive it - what we see and how we see." Hughes was born in Birmingham, lives and works in London. He is widely recognized as one of the major painters of contemporary British art. This amazing artist is also a designer, teacher and writer.
