Posted: 19 Dec 2009 02:45 PM PST

Sony is bidding with its innovative 3D technology. At first you might think that Sony focuses solely on 3D TV and peripheral equipment such as Blu-ray and PlayStation3 multimedia devices. However, when we look more closely at the plans, Sony can expect a bit of 3D technology for 2010. What about the Sony Alpha cameras 3D? Yes, indeed, will make Sony Alpha DSLR cameras apt to 3D technology! Sony sees the market divided into 3 segments: the creation and distribution of display. The segment display seems transparent enough, Sony thinks of 3D television, but also the PlayStation 3 and VAIO notebooks.

Sony also has big plans for distribution. There is talk of a new and very comprehensive online service from Sony, which includes virtually all the equipment that transfers data over a network. Think Sony Bravia LCD TVs which are linked to the online service from Sony that can receive content directly. In addition, there is the physical distribution of Blu-Ray content and of course the games, not an unimportant part of the concern for Sony.

The third and final segment is the creative industry. B2B and content, such as Sony Music and Sony Pictures, each good for a stamp of importance on creating the content and development tool game that Sony PlayStation is great, and should remain important. In this segment, Creative, Sony also sees a place for digital imaging. The digital imaging business should grow in terms of market share, which will be mainly determined by the most extensive feature set DSLR. Toshiba Satellite P500-12D 18.4 Inch Notebook

Posted: 19 Dec 2009 05:30 AM PST

As portable computers gradually take over from desktops, “desktop replacements are becoming more popular. These big, heavy laptops have large screens, powerful sound systems, and a general trend towards packing each feature multimedia and entertainment possible. The largest of these to be found, yet generally come in at 18.4 inches, just like Toshiba Satellite P500-12D before us today.

Toshiba Satellite P500-12D 18

Toshiba has a unique design ethics when it comes to laptops, whose most distinctive features are the first overall bright and striped pattern. It had a major overhaul of the boring, symmetrical stripes found on the Toshiba 18.4in previous machine we’ve reviewed (the Qosmio G50) and is now a pleasant mix of swooping lines. Unfortunately, this model does not prevent fingerprints from being horribly clear gloss on the cover, but then it is a criticism that can be launched in most consumer notebooks. Rather than design is the size of this giant will probably impress you most though. At 41.5mm thick and with a weight of 3.93 kg is one notebook that pushes the limits of mobility.

Above the keyboard lie the impressive-looking speakers (we’ll see their performance in a bit), with chrome surrounds matching chrome touchpad buttons well. Thank you to the P500-12D generous dimensions, Toshiba has found plenty of space to integrate the power button and a set of touch controls to the left of the keyboard. Firstly, we have an Eco-mode button, which, as you guessed it reduces energy consumption. Next up are the media and volume controls, which are sensitive and provide a beep loudly when pressed, but fortunately this can be disabled. They are all nicely backlit in white, as is the power button, Satellite logo and a small band above the touchpad (although, unfortunately, the keyboard is not) – very useful for finding in the dark. Future Mobile Retailing Target Market Last Year

Posted: 19 Dec 2009 02:30 AM PST

The Future of Mobile Retailing on the High Street. The last 24 months have seen rapid changes on the main street mobile phone retailers, especially in the United Kingdom. What had been an independent sector and strong and vibrant now looking down, and under threat. In an effort to improve customer relationships and increase sales, some network operators have tripled their retail presence in urban centers at the expense of distributors and independent resellers.

Future of Mobile Retailing

Mobile markets in Europe and North America, see their own changes in the distribution landscape, caused by growing competition and the struggle for market share. But other retail markets have evolved differently from the United Kingdom and there is more emphasis on the virtues of ‘independence’ in some of these other markets.

Is mobile commerce remain independent on the street? Or will move it to the web, where the pawns and tariff comparison sites can work as freelancers, once done? Retailers may remain sellers of mobile phones and services, or will they also move into the entertainment delivery and the wider market for digital media? This new report examines market developments and draws conclusions on how MNOs should react to these developments in order to optimize their distribution strategies. For more information, visit the website and research markets. [via letsgomobile]

TVonics DTR-HV250 Freeview PVR Home Cinema

Posted: 19 Dec 2009 12:30 AM PST

Dinky TVonics MDR-240 Freeview receiver is impressive, but now we have the chance to see how the quality holds up when Chuck hard disk recording in the mix. As its name suggests, the DTR-HV250 features a large hard disk of 250 GB, which equals about 125 hours of recordings, and like all products of stability TVonics usability is a priority absolute.

TVonics DTR-HV250 Freeview PVR

A hands-on inspection reveals the DTR-HV250 to be a play exceptionally well to KIT. This is not a light box and plasticky as the MDR-240 – this time the case has been fashioned from sturdy metal and it is reassuring heavy following. Aesthetically the unit is very interesting, drawing on previous TVonics PVR as the DTR-Z250. It is always good to see a company trying something a little different, and here the sides curved, glossy black finish and compact dimensions (only 185mm wide) to create a distinctive care unit, a decision which is too rare in the PVR market.

TVonics has presented a great LED display that indicates the full name of the current string, and rolls of names throughout the program as soon as you turn over. On the right is one of two USB ports, which allow you to connect card readers and flash drives and display JPEG photos on your TV and download software updates downloadable on the TVonics website.

The rear panel is equally impressive. This is the first product TVonics with HDMI, which sends 576i / p, 720p and 1080i video to your TV (selectable in the setup menu). But even more pleasing is the inclusion of two HDMI v1.3a, making this receptor in an HDMI switch box small chip for people with only one input on their TV. They go through 1080/24p and HD audio too, so your Blu-ray is in good hands, but passage through the function does not work when the device is in standby. The HDMI ports are joined by an RGB-capable SCART output, optical digital audio output, RF in / out sockets, and the second USB port. [via trustedreviews]
