Nokia X6 Video Hands-on Brilliant Touchscreens Posted: 05 Sep 2009 06:05 PM PDT Although Nokia did not want to invite us to Nokia in the world this year, we had the chance to discover a pair of its new X6 combined on the floor at IFA Berlin. Under the hand, two engineering prototypes, one of which was peeling away its plastic shell while the other seemed less sensitive to our fingers that the other valves. Yet it is clear that the capacitive touchscreen is more responsive to human pressure than resistive screens available on the N97 or the 5800 XpressMusic above. It was very clear when you use the keyboard to the screen although some of the sweeping gestures were inexplicably ignored in other parts of the interface. But given the choice of the screen is brilliant and super-awesome (remember, we are comparing to the legacy of resistive touch Nokia), we have to settle for the first time. Sure, here you still have S60 5th, for better or for worse, pumping away inside a little pudgy candybar - no screen technology may change that. See the action in the video after the break, then jump into the gallery to see the size with some of its S60 cousins five times removed. [via engadget] a |
Epson EH-TW5500 Home LCD Projectors Posted: 05 Sep 2009 12:06 PM PDT Epson has unveiled its next range of Home LCD projectors. And far from the stripped case one would expect in the current climate, he boldly includes no less than five different models ranging in price from 579 pounds to 3999 pounds, and comprises everything from the room Teen casual ‘market the devoted cinephile. At the top of the range is the EH-TW5500, a full HD D7 own model using the Epson’s 3LCD technology and a new dual iris panel design to produce a spectacular claimed dynamic contrast ratio of 200,000:1. Help also matt black-TW5500 earn his star status is its use of the famous system of HQV video processing, video processing 12-bit, and an advanced frame interpolation to reduce judder. Basically, the last of this system interpolation of images is more suited to the content you’re watching that previous attempts Epson, which should result in fewer adverse side effects of treatment. The TW5500 for £ 3,999 price tag includes a five-year warranty for the projector and the lamp that includes a Saturday service - saving you the inconvenience of taking a day off if you need to call an engineer. Just down the TW5500 we find the TW4400 £ 2999, which adopts a white finish and drops the contrast ratio to an alleged 130,000:1 - which is still an impressive figure by the standards of anyone. The two new top models from Epson have also extended optical zoom and horizontal and vertical moving images, making them flexible and easy to install. The TW4400 is quite a leap to £ 1299 EH-TW3500. It still offers a full HD resolution, but it does not use device Epson dual iris and therefore can not “demand that” a contrast ratio of 36,000:1. Note, this figure still seems favorable compared to the figures quoted by most competitors the same price. [via trustedreviews] a |
Samsung OLED 3rd Quarter Notebook Posted: 05 Sep 2009 09:20 AM PDT At IFA, Samsung OLED mentioned that they use for their laptop line next year, when the screens are becoming commercially available. This should be 3rd quarter of next year. Other than the commentary Kyu Uhm, chief sales and marketing for the global IT division, there were no other details listed. The OLED laptop concept shown here is literally just a concept and does not represent what the final product will look. Hopefully we’ll have more details soon on the progress of laptops based OLED. MacBook Air nVidia 9400M First Generation Notebook Posted: 05 Sep 2009 07:15 AM PDT For some reason, we never managed to get hold of a first generation MacBook Air. This is hardly surprising, I’m quite sure Apple knew full well it was too expensive, under-featured and would still sell just on the basis of it being, first, a new Apple product and on the other hand, something awesome to see. Apple does not need to explain to those who could afford to why they should buy a MacBook Air. As the money of non-reporting of the design subject shown in a Starbucks, the Air Force still has few rivals. Yet the first generation of air has taken a lot of Flack. It is the use of PATA SSD version is any faster, despite the extra cost, the battery life was quite poor and a number of users have reported problems with the hinges break on their systems. The response from Apple is the second revision of the MacBook Air, using nVidia 9400M chipset, as now raised by the entire MacBook range, giving an update which helps residents to air, so that a decline even more necessary price. This does not mean that the MacBook Air is not very expensive. Two configurations are available, one with a 1.83Ghz CPU and hard drive 120 GB costs £ 1149 with an upgrade to a 2.13GHz processor and a 128GB SSD pushing the price of £ 1,349. By the standards of anyone that is expensive, and it keeps the air out of the reach of the average consumer. As such, the Joint Convention would have you believe that those who are considering the MacBook Air are more concerned with having a laptop with enviable to impress (or make him jealous) friends and colleagues, or simply have more of money than sense. The MacBook Air is certainly not unprecedented and unrivaled. Sony beat Apple to the punch by leagues, the X505VP - launched in 2004 - and its (at least spiritually, if not literally) by his successors, T2XP, TX1XP, TX2XP, TX3XP, Vaio TZ, the Vaio TT. Not only are ultra-portable Sony laptop more - thank you to their smaller frames - the Air, but since T2XP they also come with top-ups, plus they offer many more hours of battery life that all other phones, surpassing even the most netbooks. And while I think the TT is the least desirable ultra-portable Sony has done to this day I still can not think of any other laptop I had for my profession TZ, except perhaps a MacBook Air.
