| Samsung Green Screen EPEAT Gold Monitor Posted: 14 Jun 2009 04:14 PM PDT Most of the manufacturers of the technology field these days are focusing more on green and eco-aware gadgets. Well, the latter to strengthen its commitment to green space is Samsung. The company announced that its 943BT, 943BWT, 2243BWT & 2443BWT SyncMaster monitors have been registered as EPEAT Gold.
Used by the U.S. federal government and other entities, EPEAT identifies more environmentally friendly products. It is managed by the Green Electronics Council. With the recent EPEAT Gold registered screens, Samsung now boasts a wide range of EPEAT registered electronic products available. Almost 197 products from Samsung which include 153 observers and 44 notebooks are registered with EPEAT. All Samsung products claim to have registered a notice of EPEAT Silver or higher. With at least 75% of optional criteria met 943BT, 943BWT, 2243BWT & 2443BWT monitors qualify for the Gold level. JH Kim, President, Information Technology Division, Samsung Electronics America Inc, stated, “As a company of innovation, we are sensitive to how our products, the impact of the environment is why we take the initiative to create eco-products. Our long term goal is that all our monitors and laptops to the gold coast in 2010. “ “In addition to EPEAT, all of our monitors are Energy Star qualified and we continue to seek ways to limit the number of harmful components, while increasing recyclable”, said Atanus RA, Vice President of Product Marketing, Information Technology Division , Samsung Electronics America Inc“. Through our program Envirosync, customers can recycle old equipment, regardless of brand, when buying a new Samsung product. EPEAT is to evaluate products based on 51 total environmental criteria. This includes 23 required criteria and 28 optional. It is necessary for products to adhere to 23 criteria required to qualify for the EPEAT registration. As in the percentage of optional criteria they meet, the products are then classified into Bronze, Silver or Gold. The environment of sensitive materials, packaging, product life and corporate policies are some of the aspects evaluated. These attributes are, including but not limited to. In addition, Samsung also has a recycling program Envirosync. This program enables authorized resellers Samsung recycle old computer equipment for companies that are replacing older products.
