| Panasonic possibly looking to release its first OLED TV in 2010? Posted: 09 May 2009 10:00 AM PDT Panasonic revealed that it is working with Sumitomo Chemical to manufacture large-sized OLED TVs. The Japanese company will reportedly start production of 40-inch OLED TV’s sometime in 2010. The 40-inch version will possibly be released a few months after the 37-inch model (which is believed to be due within the next 18 to 24 months). OLED displays are believed to last for 50,000 hours, a 66% improvement over the 30,000-hour lifespan of LCD TV’s . If you’re just itching to get yourself a brand-spanking new slim-lime flat panel television, then don’t forget about Panasonic’s flagship 1-inch thick (or should I say thin?) Z1 plasma. | Dell Mini 10v netbook starts shipping mid-May, priced at $299 Posted: 09 May 2009 07:00 AM PDT Many manufacturers are still continuously pouring out netbooks into the market. Dell will be coming out with a mini-update on their Dell Mini 10, which will be called the Dell Mini 10v. The netbook will be loaded with an Intel Atom N270 processor instead of the common Z-series one. It has everything else you would ever need in a netbook, adequate sized hard disk of 120GB, sufficient memory at 1GB and integrated webcam. CrunchGear has mentioned the availability of solid-state disk (SSD) options for the Mini 10v but I couldn’t spot it anywhere at Dell’s website as of the moment. Anyhow, it will run you around $75 more for a 32GB SSD and $125 for a 64GB SSD. The Dell Mini 10v netbook starts shipping mid-May according to their latest catalog PDF and will be priced $100 lower than the current Dell Mini 10, putting it at the $299 price point. | Harman Kardon BDP 10 Blu-ray player formally announced for Europe Posted: 09 May 2009 04:00 AM PDT Harman Kardon has formally announced its first Blu-ray player for the European region, the BDP 10. It packs your standard array of Blu-ray player features such as Profile 2.0 Blu-ray Disc™ player, HDMI 1.3a with x.v.Color, 1080/24p video playback BonusView™ interactivity, BD-Live™ capability, backward-compatibility with DVD-Video discs, MP3 and WMA playback, JPEG viewing, DivX® video playback and a front-panel USB input. It’s priced pretty steep at €700 or approximately $940 USD, considering it doesn’t feature everything a flagship Blu-ray player should have. It only has two-channel analog audio outputs compared to other manufacturers’ 7.1-channel analog audio outputs. Here’s a PDF specifications sheet to get you started. I’ve noticed a bit of a boo-boo on it though. Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-MA encoding? [via CrunchGear] Related posts:
