Remember the game Hockey?

After years of domination of cricket in the Indian sports, its national game Hockey has recently found recognition. Hockey the national game of India was completely wiped out of Indian memory with India being introduced to Cricket. Cricket took over the field and soon became the favorite of a whole lot of Indian population. I'm sure no one misses the World Cup on TV.

But how many of us watch Hockey on a regular basis?

How many of us know the exact rules of the game?

This probably the reason why it is not telecast-ed on popular channels as cricket is. As the English promoted their game all over the world, we should have done the same with ours. Unfortunately we got carried away and forgot what we had. Thanks to movies like Chak De India that spoke about Women Hockey and made us realize the importance of Hockey itself. Movies like these helped revive hockey which had been buried under the popularity of cricket. Its time we give the game its well deserved importance in Indian sports and make it as popular as cricket!
