Heights of crazyness is what I call this. A 17 year old Chinese teenager's relentless obsession for iPad 2 forced him to sell one of his kidneys for $9000, according to reports. He then bought second generation iPad, iPhone and Apple Laptop. When questioned he replied -

I wanted to buy an iPad 2, but I didn't have the money," the boy told Shenzhen TV in the southern province of Guangdong, "When I surfed the internet I found an advert posted online by agent saying they were able to pay RMB 20,000 to buy a kidney.

Following with the advert, he contacted the agent and later his one of the kidney was removed at a local hospital in Chenzhou for RMB 22,000 (USD 9000). His failed attempt to hide from his mother opened up the shocking reality of rampant materialism existing in China. Apple products like the iPhone and the iPad are in huge demand in China and are often considered as sophisticated lifestyle changing gadgets by young consumers.

When he came back, he had a laptop and a new Apple handset," his mother, identified as Miss Liu, told the station, showing off the livid red scar where her son's kidney was removed, "I wanted to know how he had got so much money and he finally confessed that he had sold one of his kidneys.

The mother reported the crime to the Chenzhou police, however, no arrest has been made so far. This shows to me alteast that Apple makes only for the rich and not concentrates on the rest of the consumer mentality.

Microsoft, Google, Yahoo team up for better search results is a post from: Tech Mania.Check out more of the latest news by Subscribing to feed

News is that to improve the search results the top biggies Microsoft, Google, Yahoo are partnering up to improve the search results. These companies have launched a new website named schema.org which consists of a common set of HTML tags that webmasters would use to mark up structured data on their websites.

This new initiative will create and support a common set of schemas for structured data markup on web pages. With schema.org, site owners and developers can learn about structured data and improve how their sites appear in search results on Bing, Google, and Schema.org, aims to be a one stop resource for webmasters looking to add markup to their pages to help search engines better understand their websites.

The schema.org site is a comprehensive resource for webmasters to learn about this new initiative. One of the key benefits to schema.org is its simplicity; it includes schemas for over 100 categories, such as movies, music, TV shows, places, products, and organizations. Bing will work jointly with the larger web community and our search partners to extend the categories as appropriate.

Schema.org contains over 100 different HTML tags for structured data, categories, events, places, people, etc. This is not the first time that the three have come together. Earlier these three had come together to create sitemaps.org, to help standardize sitemap protocol.

iPad 3 To Sport Quad-Core Processor?

iPad 3 To Sport Quad-Core Processor? is a post from: Tech Mania.Check out more of the latest news by Subscribing to feed

Rumors mills are that the next gen iPad 3 would have a quad core processor to gain a competitive advantage with its rivals whom are looking to adopt quad core processors in tablets.Speculation began on article on the Microprocessor Report, a magazine related to microprocessors, and later analyzed by Tiernan Ray on Barron's. The article speculates that Apple, which makes all its processors in-house for its iOS devices, might be working on making its next-generation processor, presumably the A6 (since the current one is known as A5), quad-core:

The other large point Gwennap makes is that the roadmap for Apple's chips may become more complex. It's safe to assume Apple will make the next processor, presumably the A6, as a quad core part, sometime next year, in order to compete with quad core chips from Nvidia and others.

While the A6 will most likely find its way into the next iPad, the article cautions that it likely won't be the case with the 2012 iPhone, possibly the iPhone 5, since such a powerful processor would run the risk of overheating inside the smaller iPhone case. Instead, the future iPhone would use the A5, possibly an enhanced version of it, until Apple develops a more efficient quad-core chip:

that chip will likely be too hot and too large to run in an iPhone, he surmises. That might mean Apple has to use a different chip for the 2012 version of the iPhone, perhaps a shrink of the A5 chip.

Apple's competitors are trying to further their game with better and faster chips. Just recently, NVIDIA introduced Kal-El, a quad-core mobile processor capable of displaying incredibly realistic graphics. It's expected for it to be all over Android tablets as soon as it becomes available.

Meanwhile, iPad 2 sales remain strong, with 4.69 million devices sold last quarter. In total, the company sold 90 million iOS devices last year and is projected to sell as many as 146 million this year. Following Apple's traditional release timeline, a next-generation iPad isn't expected to come out before the first quarter of next year.
