Chrome OS notebooks might be launched by Samsung codenamed “Alex” Posted: 02 May 2011 09:06 AM PDT I still remember when back in December 2010 Google started their pilot testing program in the US to test the Chrome OS Cr-48 net books and my friend Sathya had gone out one testing device too. This Chrome OS net books weren’t like the usual netbooks as they don’t come with hard disks and need an internet connection to save it on the cloud. Chrome OS netbooks are expected to arrive sometime during June or July 2011 but a new rumor claims that it's Samsung who will be the first to launch Chrome OS powered netbooks to the market, not Acer as reported by some sources earlier on.Engadget too had reviewed earlier in December 2010 and had reported it would either Samsung or Acer.Tom's hardware recently came up with a report which claims that Acer might be the first to bring Chrome OS netbooks to the market. According to a Chrome bug report thread, the codename for Chrome OS netbooks which might be released by Samsung this summer is "Alex". As far as hardware specifications are talked about, PCmag claim that Samsung's Chrome OS netbooks might feature a built in webcam, will run on a 1.5-GHz dual-core Intel Atom CPU and will have 2GB Ram along with a Samsung SSD. Additionally, Samsung's Alex is rumored to have a 3G card slot apart from the built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections so that you can access your cloud from anywhere or on the move. A card reader and an external VGA output is also confirmed too.All reports are kinda rumors now waiting for it to become official soon. Windows Server 8 Milestone 3 build 7959 leaks Posted: 01 May 2011 11:51 PM PDT Builds leaks are common when it comes to Windows 8 be it the 7850 or the 7955 build. Here is one more build of Windows Server 8 Milestone build 7959 leaks into the wild. The build is currently being distributed on FTPs and file sharing sites after an anonymous leakster posted the bits to the beta archive site. The build is an early sample of Microsoft's work with Windows 8 and does not reflect the current state of winmain builds. This build is currently available on private FTP sites and is expected to be made available on the usual torrent and file sharing sites in the next few hours. The build is not the usual client variety that has leaked in the past few weeks. 7959 is an x64 server version of Windows 8 but offers an up to date look at Microsoft's progress with Windows 8. Microsoft Windows 8 (”Windows 8” 6.2.7959.0) (Enterprise) (m3)
On the forum some of them have quoted that this build doesn’t work on VM ware.People are also expecting the build 7971 or 7991 to be leaked soon. This is far more less stable than 7955 build and seems to have less features than 7955. Microsoft is currently working on various Windows 8 features and is expected to deliver an early copy to developers at its Windows Developer Conference (WDC) in September. We have already seen some of the Windows 8 features like the Android style logon screen video, Tablet tile UI and PDF reader,Metro UI welcome screen and ribbon screenshot, black BSOD screen video, History vault UI, user account roaming settings over the Windows live cloud.Stay tuned for more of the updates about Windows 8.Check out betaarchive for some screenshots of this build.
