Nokia announced that its flagship N8 smartphone will be available in the UK from the company's website on October 15th for 429 GBP SIM free or on contract from 30 GBP per month. Moreover, the Symbian^3-powered device will also be available from a range of retailers and operators on October 22nd, including Carphone Warehouse, O2, Orange, Phones4u, T-Mobile, Tesco Phone Shops, Three Mobile, Virgin Mobile and Vodafone. In other words, the N8 will hit pretty much every bigger carrier and MVNO in the country.Whats been added to the device is  the pre-loaded BBC iPlayer, enabling catch up on the last seven days of BBC radio and television. There's also the brand new Ovi Store client with some Ovi-only apps like X Factor and LoveFilm.

If you forgot the specs here are some of them. The Nokia N8 comes with a 12-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and Xenon flash, HD video recording and editing capability, HSPA and WiFi connectivity, 3.5-inch nHD (360×640 pixels) capacitive touchscreen and a whole lot more.

Not only that Nokia also updated iSync for Mac with N8 support too.If you're a Mac owner, you're probably all too familiar with the pain of being unable to easily sync non-iPhone/iPod devices to your computer. Third-party software doesn't make it any better, either.

With the Nokia N8 making its way out into the wild, and perhaps get some serious carrier support from AT&T soon, most Mac owners would love to be able to get some sync action between the two gadgets.

First and fore most you need a Mac OS 10.4.9 or higher in order to use the updated version of iSync. From there, you'll be able to grab the new software and sync your contacts and calendars with your Address Book and iCal. What about media from iTunes? It looks like you're stuck with the drag & drop method for now.

Here are the instructions on getting things rolling:

  • Run Apple Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of iSync. The minimum requirements to use the plugin are Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync version 2.4.
  • Download the plugin from the link next to your Nokia device model. After you accept the licence agreement the download starts.
  • Make sure iSync is not running.
  • Double-click the downloaded plugin disk image to open it in Finder.
  • Double-click the installer package. This will have a file name ending in ".pkg".
  • When the installation is complete, drag the disk image file to the Trash to eject it.
  • Start iSync from the Applications folder.
Now go enjoy yourself knowing that you won't have to manually enter in all 1,000 contacts you have.

Microsoft and Adobe CEO meet up for some talks on world domination

Inspite of having tough times Microsoft and Adobe are coming together in talks to devise a strategy against Google and Apple so that they can come back to the same playing arena for smart phones.According to a New York Times report — which was crafted after collecting reports from “employees and consultants to the companies who were involved in the discussions that took place” — Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen recently met at the latter’s headquarters for a closed-door meeting.

According to sources the meeting went on for over an hour and covered a variety of topics, with one of ‘em being Apple and its newfound dominance in the mobile market. Shockingly enough, a “possible acquisition of Adobe by Microsoft were among the options” of stopping the skyrocketing growth. The report accurately notes that such a deal makes entirely more sense now that Redmond isn’t exactly the 800 pound gorilla that it was before Android and iOS hit the mainstream.Whatever happens, no one can blame Steve Jobs for not giving Adobe every possible reason to hit Apple with everything it’s got — even if that involves buddying up with Ballmer and co.
