How to Enable HDR Photos on iPhone 3GS, 3G Posted: 13 Sep 2010 08:00 PM PDT Remember I had posted about what’s new in iOS 4.1, one of the feature was HDR photos feature.HDR photos (High dynamic range photos) function on iOS 4.1 enables you to get much better pictures in strong light. Apple provides HDR feature for iPhone 4 on iOS 4.1 only. But a guy named Will Strafach has provided a small tweak using which you can easily activate HDR functionality on your iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G as well. All you need to modify is a plist system file, but to modify a system file, you will need the Jailbreak. iOS 4.1 jailbreak is still not available and as soon as the ios 4.1 is jailbroken you can right away follow the below steps to activate HDR on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G.
Before that read what exactly HDR is
In simple words, HDR Imaging automatically combines multiple exposures into a single image to improve shadows in images. Steps to Enable HDR photos on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G Prerequisites
Step 1: Connect to iPhone via SSH
Step 2: Copy the plist file on the desktop of your computer and open it. Step 3: Using textEditor, create a New key named "hdr-image-capture" with a boolean value of "true" to the 'capabilities" section of this property list as shown in screenshot. Just, copy and paste the following string in the file: <key> hdr-image-capture </ key> <true/> Step 4: Save the plist and upload it back into the iPhone using SSH. Step 5: Restart SpringBoard, or just Reboot your device. Voila! You now have HDR setting in the camera application of your iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS! The method was discovered by cdevwill and works flawlessly but need to wait till iPhone dev Team releases tools to jailbreak iOS 4.1 firmware. Related Posts : |
Apple terminating free case program this September 30 Posted: 12 Sep 2010 11:02 PM PDT You remember the attenuation problems faced by the iPhone 4 right and how Apple responded with free bumpers or take a refund and also the process to apply for free iPhone 4 bumper case.On the Apple's official iPhone 4 Case Program website, the company released the following statement:
While the Sept. 30 date had already been revealed when the program was announced, Apple said at the time it would take the opportunity to reevaluate the situation. But on the official iPhone 4 Case Program site on Friday, Apple announced that it will not extend the program in its current incarnation. There has been no official word on whether or not the Cupertino company has made any internal adjustments to the iPhone 4's antenna design. When the iPhone 4 launched, users discovered that they could reduce the reception of the device and, in areas of weak reception, cause dropped calls by covering the bottom left of the handset. In addition to announcing the case program, Apple, at its press conference in July, stated that all phones experience reception issues when held incorrectly. In addition, it will no longer offer the 30-day return with no restocking fee for unsatisfied customers.Last month, an executive with a Mexican wireless carrier claimed that Apple would release a new iPhone 4 with revised hardware to address the antenna issue at the end of September. However, the company has made no indication that it has a hardware fix for the issue in the works. Have a look at the website for more info. Related Posts : |
Next-gen iPhone to be powered by Qualcomm ones rather than Intel’s Infineon chips Posted: 12 Sep 2010 10:35 PM PDT Woah ! Here is something new I am hearing ! The Commercial Times reported (Google translation) this week that Infineon will not provide the baseband chip for the fifth-generation iPhone. Infineon’s wireless unit was sold to Intel for $1.4 billion in August.According to the report, the next-generation Apple smartphone, which is expected next year, will still be manufactured by the Hon Hai Group and Foxconn, and will include a Qualcomm baseband chip this time around. Infineon was the one who supplied Apple with the base band chip for the iPad 3G and all of the Cupertino, Calif., company’s iPhone models since the smart phone was first released in 2007.After the Intel-Infineon deal, Intel CEO Paul Otellini had first asked Apple CEO Steve Jobs about his opinion and he was “very happy” with it. On the other hand, relations between Apple and Intel have been tense as of late. Otellini made comments earlier this week criticizing the newly released Apple TV as a “step backward,” especially when compared to the Intel-powered Google TV products set to be released this month. This Qualcomm broadband chip would match rumors that Apple is developing a CDMA iPhone. Qualcomm invented the now widely-used CDMA technology. A cryptic “iPhone developer guru” job posting on the Qualcomm website in August claimed that respondents would work on “the most challenging product” of their lives. Several analysts see a switch to Qualcomm by Apple as the right move. In light of the Intel-Infineon deal, “Apple may want to diversify its supplier base to reduce dependency on a single supplier,” said Manikandan Raman with the Motley Fool. With a dominant 69 percent share of the CDMA mobile phone chipset market, Qualcomm would be the “logical choice” to help Apple expand to other networks, said Barclays Capital analyst Andrew Gardiner. “Infineon’s wireless unit doesn’t offer chips for CDMA technology.” Via AppleInsider Related Posts : |
