Samsung set to mass produce world’s first 3.3 inch WVGA AMOLED

Posted: 04 Feb 2010 09:49 PM PST

Recently Samsung announced that it will begin mass production of its 3.3 inch WVGA (480X800) resolution AMOLED, the world’s first touch function AMOLED panel from March 2010 onwards. This is the first time that a touch sensor has been placed over an AMOLED substrate. This integrated touch function for the AMOLED panels uses the underlying principle of placing a touch-sensor (on-cell) over the mirror display and making it evaporate. The thickness of the touch sensor is just 0.001mm and this allows the screen to provide much higher quality images. Until now, touch screen products have been made by separately connecting the display and the touch panel.
