Sony Ericsson Jalou F100i Small Clamshell Phone

Posted: 15 Feb 2010 04:30 PM PST

The Sony Ericsson F100i Jalou, then, is a small clamshell phone aimed squarely at the fashion, well, anyone could invest in a clutch bag and care about their make-up routine. This is certainly not smartphone but packs in a respectable number of features and in its non-covered Dolce & Gabbana brand, it is possible for a respectable 130 pounds.

Sony Ericsson Jalou F100i

When we laid eyes on Jalou we were simply amazed. With dimensions of 73 x 45 x 17mm when closed, is one of the smallest phones we’ve seen in years. It is a little thicker is less suitable for Slimline pockets, but it should leave enough space for all other life essentials, which are home in a handbag.

It also looked a little thank you glamor at its peripheral cut line GEM and deep-gloss sheen. At least that’s the case with the upper surface, but unfortunately the substance did not have the same quality finish and is rather just paint metal. In fact, if you open the phone up and look at the back, it is clear that the two shades of purple are not quite the same thing. (black and blue are also available with a gold finish used on the Dolce & Gabbana original version). We’re a little baffled by the decision to use purple clash. Surely, a coupling or completely different finish on the bottom would have looked more classy? However, fingerprints aside, the F100i Jalou not playing its role of phone fashion rather well.

We also love the hidden external display. The LCD screen is located in the pit on top of the phone where it is completely invisible when off. Close the phone or press the listening volume while it is closed and the lettering white suddenly appears right on top. We have seen these screens before, but it is particularly striking. It shows all the usual basic information like time, battery level, signal strength, and if you have a new message.

Open the phone up, however, and things take a turn for the worse. In particular, the keyboard seems decidedly sticky in terms of performance has few merits. The single piece plastic malleable, making the surface of all keys is shaky and generally cheap looking. This, combined with a little slumped section navigation meant that much has pressed the wrong button. While the keys are correct tap but overall this is an area where Sony Ericsson should really have spent a little more cash. [via trustedreviews]

The OS is supposed to be the same as the Wave used, ie, Bada OS although Samsung say that it is Android 2.1 running on the device, so it seems that the eyes appeared similar due to skinning Android. Eminent EM7075-DTS hdMedia Stream Media Player

Posted: 14 Feb 2010 08:30 PM PST

Media players are becoming more common as the market for them is growing. Many fans of tech-savvy video save their DVDs and Blu-ray digital collections, or buy movies in digital format via the Internet. To play these back, a media player can be a cheap alternative and flexible to a dedicated Home Theater PC (HTPC), especially as the quality and functionality of these devices continues to improve. So today, we look at another model, this time of Eminent – EM7075-hdMedia the DTS stream.

Eminent EM7075-DTS hdMedia Stream Media Player

This media player is a good first impression with a bundle full of extras in the box. You get a remote control with batteries, HDMI cable, composite cable, a digital optical audio cable (by no means a joint entry), and even an Ethernet cable. The power cable media player itself is very unusual in that it includes a useful power switch built halfway between the device and power supply. This allows you to drag the box of the road while being easily extinguished if you do not leave appliances on standby.

The EM7075-DTS is greater than the Western Digital Live WDTV with whom he shared very similar capabilities. Although not nearly as heavy as the great ACRYAN CAB-PV73100 Playon! HD because of the absence of an internal hard drive, it is roughly comparable to O Asus! Make HDP-R1 in size and appearance. It sports a glossy piano black finish that scratches easily and shows dust to best advantage, though with a little care it should not be too much problem.

Quality construction leaves no room for complaint if, as it was not an indication of flex or crack. In addition, as it contains no moving parts the unit is totally silent in operation. In front of the drive is a blue power LED turns red when in standby, and there are separate indicators for USB and LAN activity.

Connectivity is the first area where the player is lagging slightly behind the competition. For example, it offers only one USB port, the WDTV offers two and O! Play has a more dedicated USB handset USB / eSATA connection. It also lacks the component video output device of Western Digital, although this is only a concern for those with older HDTVs without HDMI or DVI.

However, for the rest, there is no reason to complain. It may lack wireless capabilities, but an Ethernet port is provided for hooking the hdMedia Stream up to a network. A separate digital audio output is provided with composite video and stereo audio connectors and the HDMI output is Version 1.3. Connectivity, only ACR-HD PV73100 Playon! Assets still all its competitors, but a unique feature of the prominent is a 3.5mm jack for connecting an IR extender. This is a very convenient if the extension requested is not included in the box. Corel PaintShop Photo Pro X3 Software Camera

Posted: 14 Feb 2010 07:30 PM PST

Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X3 is the latest version of a program for editing images for almost 20 years has been the leading consumer alternative to Adobe Photoshop. Starting life in 1992 as a fairly basic frame and packet image editing called Jasc Paint Shop Pro, it has grown steadily over the years into a very powerful program.

Jasc Software has been acquired by Corel in 2004, and since then the program has undergone several changes, including its name, which gradually longer and more complicated with each new iteration. The latest version changes the name of the famous “Paint Shop Pro Photo” to “Paint Shop Pro Photo” for some reason that probably seemed a good idea of Corel’s marketing department.

Paint Shop has always been regarded as a cheaper alternative to Adobe Photoshop, and in fact its success has been one of the main reasons for Adobe Photoshop Elements launched in 2001. PaintShop Pro is probably the most pirated program ever made, and earlier versions (up to version 9.0) are available for free download from a number of websites. The latest version is available as a canned program with a full printed manual, or as a download own online shop Corel, priced at £ 79 for the full version or £ 59 as an upgrade version 10 or higher. However, if you shop go to Amazon you can find the full version for only £ 65. If this seems a little expensive, keep in mind that the latest version of Adobe Photoshop will cost around 600 pounds, and even Photoshop Elements is about 75 pounds. [via trustedreviews]
