| Nexus One sells just 20k numbers units in First week Posted: 14 Jan 2010 02:56 AM PST According to an estimate of its first week sales from mobile analytics group Flurry, Nexus has a lukewarm start with the search giant selling 20,000 phones since launch on Jan. 5.If you look at the picture below, Apple and AT&T sold1,600,000 iPhone 3GS phones in their first week last June, and Verizon sold 250,000 Motorola Droids in their first week on the market in November. Even T-Mobile's myTouch — an Android device that started selling on the network last August — scored more sales in its first week, at 60,000.
Instead of going the usual route, Google opted to sell the phone, which is currently available in a $529 unlocked version or a $179 version with a 2-year T-Mobile contract, exclusively online through Google's site."While this distribution strategy is among the most innovative facets of the Nexus One launch, and a threat to carrier control of the consumer relationship, a series of customer service and other mistakes reveal Google's lack of retail experience," Flurry's marketing director Peter Farago said in a blog post on the company's site. This comes as a big surprise considering the publicity and the hype generated by the Nexus One. Google even advertised it on its home page.Hope it sells more in the coming weeks.  |
| Baidu gets hacked by Iranian cyber army Posted: 14 Jan 2010 12:43 AM PST After twitter security was compromised and was hacked by Iranian cyber army, next victim was of chinese search engine Baidu.The message “This site has been hacked by the Iranian Cyber Army" was displayed on the site.For 3 hours, people who visited Baidu saw the message as show in the below picture.Finally Baidu was back after lots of efforts,but Google benefited most from this attack as during the 3 hours when Baidu was down, people used Google more.This leaves a sense of warning so that precautionary steps need to be taken so that such attacks can be avoided.So whos next on the victim list.
