Nexus one rooted and unlock Guide Posted: 08 Jan 2010 03:02 AM PST It didn’t take much time for Nexus to be rooted when it was launched two days back by Google.Paul from modaco did the root for Nexus one using Superboot which he describes is a boot.img which when flashed will root your Nexus once its boots for first time. You don’t need to flash the system partition, no need to use ADB, no overwriting the ROM on your device, you will just need to flash the boot image. How it’s done, see step by step on how to proceed below.
In case you have bought Nexus retail then you would need to unlock the Bootloader first and also gives the priviledge to install any custom OS.This can be done as follows Process is similar as mentioned above but here you would need to download Fastboot instead of Superboot.

Qualcomm Chip to be powered in new Verizon iPhone Posted: 07 Jan 2010 06:31 AM PST Rumors seems to be spreading that the next version of iPhone for Verizon may feature a Qualcomm chip.Qualcomm's CEO Paul Jacobs has openly expressed interest in inserting a Qualcomm chip into Apple's popular iPhone.New rumors reported by TheStreet.com indicate that Qualcomm's endeavors were successful.A Qualcomm chip will power a new version of the iPhone on Verizon in the summer. While official confirmation from Apple and Qualcomm is still awaiting but Northeast Securities analyst Ashok Kumar serves as the source. He claims to have confirmed the partnership with iPhone manufacturers and suppliers. How this interest of Qualcomm to be introduced to be iPhone came was when Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs confirmed that there is ongoing interest to become a chip supplier for Apple's iPhone in a statement to Bloomberg. Bloomberg writes:
You might know that Qualcomm's Snapdragon chip is powering the super speedy Nexus One. But the Qualcomm iPhone chip in question is different — reportedly a 3G wireless technology chip for EV-DO — this is still a massive get for the San Diego-based chip supplier, hoping this rumors turns to be true |
Microsoft reveals HP Tablet prototype – Courier Posted: 07 Jan 2010 06:05 AM PST There were many rumors and images spreading over the net in regards to a tablet from Microsoft which might run Courier a concept OS that is supposed to look and act like a book today in CES 2010. Microsoft revealed the tablet details.Microsoft is making a tablet-like device — not one but many, with different partners (Pegatron, Archos and HP) — which CEO Steve Ballmer referred to collectively as "slate PCs." But it's clear that it’s too early to comment for the insanely hyped "Microsoft and HP tablet" that was to have challenged Apple's soon to be released iSlate later this month. Steve Ballmer showed the working prototype only briefly, running Kindle for Windows and being used primarily as an eReader-like device. The Slate will be running Windows 7, which makes use of the new multi-touch features. One more thing is Slate would include the PC version of Amazon's Kindle software, meaning that you can download and view books from Amazon.com just as you would on a regular Kindle. So why buy Kindle if its achieved here ? Not much information was given by Ballmer in regards to hardware specs or battery life, though I expect HP will opt for either an Atom processor or an Intel Ultra Low Voltage processor, the only chips that really make sense given the size and purpose of the tablet. No pricing information was given, though Ballmer stated that it would cost about as much as a high-end smart phone – may be in the $500-700 range.Let’s wait how it responds to Apple’s iSlate.
