Microsoft Merges Zune & Xbox Teams Games

Posted: 25 Jan 2010 06:35 AM PST

The Redmond giant has announced a major reorganization of its Entertainment & Devices (E & B) by moving the unit Zune software / services, Mediaroom IPTV and Media Center in its Interactive Entertainment Business (IEB), which lies within E & B and handles Xbox, Games for Windows and Microsoft Game Studios.

Microsoft Merges Zune & Xbox Teams Games

If you think that sounds complicated then the official statement of the company will do little to help:

“As a natural evolution of the Interactive Entertainment Business, our consumer products and experiences focused on games, movies, television and music will move in IEB, headed by SVP Don Mattrick. In addition, we formed a centralized E services & D infrastructure team, which will act as a resource through the handset division. Finally, Enrique Rodriguez decided to move from his position as leader in running television, video and business of music and assesses its chances of future careers. The first part of firms TVM, Zune and Windows Medica Center is positioned on IEB, and Mediaroom, the businesss television platform, will become an autonomous group within E & D who reports directly (E & D) President Robbie Bach. “

Apart from the fact “to assess his next job” sounds rather ominous, which should mean greater synergy (yes, I hate the word too – but it is apt here) between the various platforms from Microsoft. A notable point here is Windows Mobile, which also sits in the E & B, and it confirms the theory that the (potentially do or die) version 7 is much more consumer-friendly in nature. SDXC Memory Cards SD & SDHC Storage

Posted: 25 Jan 2010 03:35 AM PST

Last year, the specifications for a new generation of Flash Secure Digital (SD) memory cards have been made public. And they are, to put it lightly, impressive. As a basis with SD and SDHC (SD High Capacity) storage capacities higher up to 32GB, a requirement specification was heavy set for a new type of card that could take over after SDHC.

SDXC Memory Cards

However, anyone taking a look at the SDXH (eXtended Secure Digital Capacity) roadmap, and sees a storage capacity of 2TB and interface speeds of 104MB/sec bus to 300 MB / s a later stage, will soon be convinced. Panasonic begins this year with the introduction of the first 48GB and 64GB memory cards SDXC. During our visit to CES 2010 in Las Vegas, we talked to an employee of the SD Association, during which it became clear that one can expect an increase in storage capacity of each year for years to come, with a maximum of 2TB In practice this means that SDXC 2TB memory card will be introduced around 2015, so we have a little go.

To get an idea, about 100 high-definition movies or 480 hours of HD video, 136,000 photos or high resolution placed on a map SDXC 2TB. Memory cards first SDXC are a fact, we just need to wait a broad range of devices. Canon and Panasonic has introduced several new compact cameras with support SDXC during CES, but we still have to wait for manufacturers of digital SLRs such as Canon and Nikon. In particular, the professional digital SLR cameras are particularly suited to work with maps SDXC. Speed, high resolution and storage capacity are features that the professional photographer is going for. And so, in terms of price, it all fits better in this sector, like the Panasonic 64GB SDXC a price of $ 599.95 / Euro 499. [via letsgomobile]

Sony Ericsson Aino U10i Sliding Mobile Phone

Posted: 25 Jan 2010 12:35 AM PST

The first thing that impressed by the Aino is its build quality. He is back and sides are finished in soft touch plastic that feels good and does not show fingerprints and scratches less than half the OFT-gloss black preferred. The screen is also very difficult, therefore, should resist scratches well.

Sony Ericsson Aino U10i Mobile Phone

Sliding open the phone does not reveal any weaknesses or because of a strong mechanism for all metals. All this power does not result in a fairly heavy phone weighing 135g, despite relatively slim-line dimensions of 104 x 50 x 15mm, but we think it’s a small price to pay. I also like the buttons that sit below the slide-out mechanism. Despite being relatively small and low profile, they are easy to locate and through a short-sharp and they respond quickly.

Accordingly, you are always sure that when you press a button or not, which is excellent for typing speed and accuracy. In fact, the keypad Aino is full QWERTY and touch screen compatible many rivals to shame.
To return to the screen, this is not his only strength that is impressive, it’s also great to look at. Although resolution of 432 x 240 pixels is not the highest, it still offers plenty of space and can show enough detail to make Web browsing and e-mail control of a non-too-task laborious.

In addition, because of the impressive black levels and rich colors, the brightness of decency, and unmatched in its class viewing angles, it is simply a joy to view. This makes all aspects of phone use easier and more enjoyable, and obviously lends itself well to watch videos, who excels at phone (if you are required to re-encode your files to a compatible resolution and format As with most devices). Sony SD Memory Cards Support SD Platform

Posted: 24 Jan 2010 09:35 PM PST

Surprising, but also to foresee, was the introduction of the Sony SD Card, SDHC and microSD / SDHC memory cards. With the introduction of the new Sony Cybershot cameras, the specification has shown that, besides the support of Sony Memory Stick own, they also now support the SD platform.

Sony SD Memory Cards

This is a logical choice, given that almost all manufacturers made this step years ago, or in the case of Olympus, which has made recently. What are the long-term consequences for the Memory Stick is yet to see, but we hope that this is the first step in the complete conversion of the SD / SDHC and probably the flash memory cards SDXC in the next year or two. The selection of Sony memory cards SD and SDHC is composed of 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB cards. The Sony microSD and microSDHC cards offer a choice of 2GB, 4GB and 8GB (SD adapter included). All Sony memory cards are extremely durable, it can be exposed to extreme temperatures of -25 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius. The packaging is recyclable and made with a minimum amount of plastic. In addition, they are lighter and have less volume than before.

In combination with the Sony SD / SDHC and microSD / SDHC cards, File Rescue software can be used. With this software, photo, video or music files that have been damaged or removed can be easily recovered. All SD and Sony memory cards microSD can quickly store and transfer data. Class 4 transfer rates means a recording high-definition video and stable enough speed to carry a digital camera and advanced features of mobile telephony. The Sony SD, SDHC and microSD / SDHC memory cards will be available from February 2010. [via letsgomobile]
