Garmin nuvi 1690 Sat-Nav Speed Mobile GPS Posted: 18 Jan 2010 11:21 AM PST We found Hot Traffic was more dynamic than previous RDS-TMC based Garmin sat-nav implementations of traffic, and was more able to get away from jams on major roads. It is therefore an improvement over the standard RDS-TMC, but not as far as the HD Traffic TomTom. Garmin also keeps its database up to date radar data link mobile, with frequent updates. Then you’ll be less likely to make an impromptu inspection speed mobile. A little over a year ago, TomTom has radically changed the nature of the personal navigation device. Previously, he was essentially a passive, receiving signals from satellites to provide location and routing information accordingly. TomTom has launched its Live services with the x40 series, which connected to a mobile data by providing a range of connected devices. It took a long time for other manufacturers to respond to TomTom, but now one of the oldest brands of sat-nav company meets the challenge, and potentially raise the bar even further. With the nuvi 1690, Garmin introduced the NuLink!, Reflecting TomTom LIVE and adds a little more. Live Like TomTom sat-navs, the 1690 has a mobile data connection built in. Thus, it can upload and receive information from the Internet. Garmin uses this technique to provide a full range of services. For starters, instead of using the conventional FM radio receiver to receive the latest traffic RDS-TMC, the 1690 uses the data link. Garmin calls this traffic hot, because the information is updated more frequently. However, the UK supplier Trafficmaster rest, so that real information is not as detailed as the TomTom HD traffic, although similar service currently provided by NAVTEQ are used in some European countries. Sony Ericsson Satio U1i Smartphone Posted: 18 Jan 2010 02:45 AM PST Things do not get the best start that, despite a generally harmless, this phone does not simply have the feeling of quality you expect from such a bonus scheme. The screen is finished in a flexible and highly scratch-prone plastic (and yes, it’s resistive rather than capacitive), while the rest of the phone, except the finish brushed lens cover on the back uses less than rock solid glossy black plastic and fake chrome. An advantage of all that plastic device is a relatively brief at 128g it is much lighter than its heavy dimensions of 110 x 55 x 18mm/13mm would suggest. The phone is fairly tight in hand and key controls fall easily into place, but it is a little top heavy thank you for this great camera. The front is very low with only three buttons to answer the call, menu and end call, serving in the 3.5 inch screen, while video calls camera sits up there. The sides, however, are festooned with real features. On the left is a slider to lock and unlock the phone (which is something that seems totally unnecessary, as this could be implemented in software) and below is the standard port for Sony Ericsson loading The USB connection and the headset (yes, there are no other headphone jack on this phone). A MicroSD card slot supporting up to 32GB is also under a flap and hands down the phone recognizes when it is inserted or not and changes the default storage of the camera appropriately. A volume rocker that doubles as the zoom digital camera kicks things off on the right side and sit by her side buttons to switch between the image viewer and video / stills modes in the ‘device. The soft starter camera / shutter, which is surrounded by a bright blue ring during use, finishing powders. The only other control is the power button is on the top edge – we prefer that it be combined with the end call button on the vast majority of phones. He also pretty shabby single port on the top while a loop along the center sits on the bottom edge. [via trustedreviews] a |
