SteelSeries Xai Laser Gaming Mouse Posted: 08 Jan 2010 08:17 AM PST SteelSeries (SS) design philosophy has always been to create tools is true for players of professional and amateur. Avoiding gimmicks and unnecessary flashing parts of many of its competitors, SS instead speaks to the people that play games and ask them what they need from there, peripherals and go ahead and create something for meet these requirements without adding anything unnecessary. Continuing from where the great success and rightly Ikari gaming mouse has stopped, this new model takes the hyper-sensitivity and customization of its judgments, and fled with it, providing a mechanism for detecting which can be 5001 dots per inch (CPI), to 12,000 frames per second, and face 30G acceleration and movement of over 150 inches per second. You can also adjust the overall path of CPI from 1 to 5001 in increments of 1, select your turnout, adjust your distance lift, and set all sorts of other software-based cheating mouse. It has an ambidextrous design that is reminiscent of the classic Microsoft Intellimouse 1.1. In the hand it feels very comfortable and lends itself well to both the fingers and the palm-on grips (although if you do not know what they mean, that will not matter). In particular, the sides slightly inclined inwards and rubber surfaces make the mouse easy to grasp with just the thumb and little finger and is perfectly balanced so as not to tip forward or backward to lift and move. Mouse comfort is something very subjective, but overall, we believe that the Xai is about as good as it gets. Construction quality looks very impressive with pokes and prods to be greeted with nothing less than absolute strength. As is the trend, the cable is twisted, but we must say we have never found this to be better than raw rubber cables. It is at least very long two meters. SS is also a point on it with gold plated connectors. We’re still not sure if that makes a big difference though. [via trustedreviews] a |

Posted: 08 Jan 2010 02:07 AM PST Nokia N97 has been one of the most hyped devices last year, but for many the final product did not meet expectations. Nokia has not discussed it with a major update, but others remain critical. Accordingly, it is difficult not to see the Mini Nokia N97 as an attempt to correct some of these mistakes. As its name indicates the handset is essentially a shrunken version of the original with some features removed, reduced or revised, but fortunately, Nokia has managed to do that without really affecting the core DNA of the phone. When you first choose the phone’s size difference is really significant. Considering that the N97 was a bit of a tank, the Mini is a little more athletic. It is much narrower and thinner, and therefore is not only pocket a lot nicer but also much better looking too. It’s a little heavier, tipping the scales at 138g, but if anything this helps only add to his strong sense, that gives you the assurance that it will stand up to its fair share of bumps and scrapes. Naturally, the form factor more compact means that the screen has been reduced in size. It has been shrunk from 3.5 to 3.2in, although the resolution remains intact at 640 x 360. Unfortunately Nokia has stuck with a resistive touch screen rather than going to the display capabilities we have seen recently on the X6. But while the Mini’s screen is not as responsive to finger presses than on the X6, it is certainly not bad by the standards of resistance. Moreover, it is nice and bright, and text and graphics look slightly sharper than they do on the original N97 as the pixels are closer now full. [via trustedreviews] a |
