I read this awesome news few minutes back regarding Wordpress being in development for version 3.0.Recently 2.9.1 was made available to fix the bugs in the wordpress 2.9 version.After the beta 1 there would be a second stage of Beta 2 and then the Wordpress 3.0 would be released.One important thing to note about Wordpress 3.0 is that it would feature a merged version of Wordpress MU(Multi User) and wordpress.
That means to say that in a single installation you can install wordpress MU and wordpress at the same time.This comes in handy when you have multiple sites to handle on a single wordpress installation.So you can find this useful and make use of buddy press and some functionality.In case you want a feature to be put in the latest 3.0 version you can suggest what are the features you would love to see by sending a feature request .

Wordpress 2.9.1 Beta 1 released initiating bug fix

Few days back Wordpress 2.9 was made available and as expected users including me, encountered bugs namely the missed schedule and the header modification error.To fix these bugs 2.9.1 Beta 1 was released which fixes a total of 14 bugs.
If you facing problem with latest wordpress 2.9 version you can download wordpress beta tester plugin and upgrade it using Tools>Upgrade menu option.
In case you are facing the missed schedule here is a fix for the same.

This error is due to error in cron job code in cron.php which mainly resides in the wp-includes folder.Firstly make a backup of cron.php file and then edit cron.php and find for the following line

wp_remote_post( $cron_url, array('timeout' => 0.01, 'blocking' => false, 'sslverify' => apply_filters('https_local_ssl_verify', true)) );

When you find this line just change the time out value greater than the present value say 12 or so

i.e 'timeout' => 12

Those who are in the habit of  post scheduling will find the fix very useful.

If your sceptic in regards to editing file then Semilogic posted patched files for 2.9 via TechExclusive Before uploading above files, make sure you have a total backup of blog first then upload this file on hosting account via ftp and replace it with "wp-includes" directory.

Trip to Gokarna Dandeli Karwar and Goa

You might be wondering where did i disappear for 3 days.No sign of me.Actually i had gone for a bike trip with 5 of my friends.We friends had planned for a long awaited ride to Goa but were waiting for all of us to free with their schedule.It was off for me for christmas so it was decided we would leave on 23rd, but i had a urgent conference call in office so i suggested my friends to carry on and i would meet them next day in Gokarna.So i started my journey on my bike  at 7.15 am to gokarna 233kms from Mangalore.I took 3 stops in between and reached gokarna by around 1.I met my friends there and then we rode 15kms to Om beach.There we enjoyed the beach and the tourists out there mostly we sighted foreigners who may be had come for their vacation for a trip in india.We aet some junk food out there and had some lime juice to quench our thirst.
After that we decided to ride to Dandeli a cool destination around 115kms from that place.We took the Yellapur-Haliyali route to Dandeli and we reached the place by around 9.15 pm.Next was to find a room/lodge to rest for the night.I called up few place and later on we decided that we would go to white water resort.The roads were in between deep dark jungles.We paid the amoung of 2k to the agent and he promissed us 2 bedrooms 1 tent 1 campfire and morning breakfast and tea and check out by 11 in the morning.We didn’t find any other place so had to settle for that.To reach that place we had a tough time.Going to those dark jungles asking people for which way, calling up resort for route and at last after so much of pain we reached the resort by 11 in nite.
We rested for a while and we dint have anything else to eat so we had some pickles and some drink in the campfire.The climate was so chilly and we were shivering badly so it was awesome in the campfire.Best part was in front of cottage was kali river which flowed.At night it looked so romantic and silent.We chatted and laughed til 1 am and then we went to sleep in our rooms.3 of them stayed in one room and the rest shared in the other.The weather was so damn good that we dint even need the fans to be switched on.Had a awesome sound sleep.Morning i woke up at 7 freshened up and came out to have a view and i must say it was totally breath taking.Shiny river in front of long trees and the shade, it was the best place i have been.Totally cool and i recommend you going there.
After every one woke up we decided to go to Water rafting and out of 6 of them only 2 managed to join with me to it so we reached the rafting place by 11 and geared up .The trainer gave us training first on how and the safety precautions and how to row the raft etc.With life jackets and helmet on and along with the raft we started and 7 high rapid fire streams came and the water was so cool.My whole body was shivering but it was awesome experience and once the ride was over i felt bad that it lasted only for 1.5 hours.My hands were also paining rowing the boat and i decided to go and meet up my other 3 buddies who had already checked out from the cottage and were waiting at the resort.I and my other two friends geared up and started journey to goa which was 137kms.We took the Yellapur-Haliyali route and reached Panaji by 10.But then we decided to go to Madgaon where my friend’s dad’s relative had arranged us a guest house for us to stay.Finally after searching the place where Verna was we got the guest house.Rested there for the night and i was dead tired rowing and riding too.Slept like a log there.
Next day morning we decided to check some beaches and then we got ready and then went for some beach and at 11 we decided to move back to mangalore via the karwar route.We stopped at Karwar near the Rabindranath tagore beach and when we plan to start our ride what i see is my bike’s back tyre is punctured and there goes our precious time.Still 277  kms back to mangalore and we had made plans to reach by 8 at night. Then had to search for the mechanic and he said he has to go for lunch so we also decided that we would finish our lunch and by then the mechanic would have fixed my bike too.So had my lunch and reached the place and the mechanic had fixed the tyre and had to put a new tube to the tyre.So we started off racing as fast we can to reach mangalore.It was already getting dark and i slowed down my speed and came at a constant 60 km until i reached mangalore by 9 at night.Rest of my friends reached a bit later.Came to my room and slept like a log..On the whole trip was fun and had a wonderful experience traveling 1274 kms in 3 days.Pictures would be updating the post soon.;)
