As with all of the Microsoft products like Windows 7, Office 2010 Professional Beta, Office starter 2010 Beta the crunched up Beta version of Office has been leaked into the wild. The Starter edition doesn’t include all the features as in Office 2010 Professional Beta and only comes with Word and Excel. So this provides the basic necessity for most of the home users and small sized businesses. At present only Office 2010 Professional Beta has been out public. The invitation to Starter edition has been on an invite basis and i was unlucky enough to get one.

Sandip got an opportunity to try the Starter edition and has posted some screen shots of the same. You could also check out his comparison between Office professional 2010 Beta and Starter 2010 Beta.I am just waiting for it to go public. If your are eager to try it out just hook up with bit torrent sites for links. But i don’t recommend downloading from them as the builds could be tampered and infected in Trojans and spy wares.kAtz93 one of user of Winmatrix forum has posted Office Starter 2010 download link as well as screenshots.Just search for the link and let me know what do you feel about Office Starter 2010.

I had posted about Paint.NET a very powerful replacement for Paint, GIMP, Photoshop etc.Paint.NET has been updated to new version i.e 3.5.1 Existing users can use the built in updater and new users can go to the website and download it.This is the first time you can see the background auto updater in action.

Changes and fixes since v3.5:

New: For Windows 7, added taskbar progress(superbar progress) reporting for long running operations (effects, adjustments, Image->Resize, save, install)

superbarProgress 250x139 Paint.NET v3.5.1 is now available

  • Changes to corrections to the French translation
  • Running setup with /auto will no longer launch Paint.NET when it's done.
  • Fixing up an issue where Paste into New Image would refuse an image on the clipboard, even if regular Paste would take it.
  • Fixing up a race condition with Edit->Paste and Image->Resize whereby it would take up 100% CPU and take between 1 minute to 1 hour to finish.
  • Fixing of issues with Copy/Paste where it would leave an extra line of transparent pixels on the left, top, right, and/or bottom edges
  • Fixed lag with the paintbrush tool that was being seen on some systems
  • Fixed some issues with the paintbrush and eraser tool being misaligned when zoomed in
  • Fixed a crash that would happen at (seemingly) random times, such as after drawing with the paintbrush tool, on some systems
  • Fixed a minor and obscure rendering glitch with the Move Selected Pixels tool
  • Fixed an issue with glass over Remote Desktop or Windows 7 Virtual PC
  • Fixed a minor glitch whereby the “Unsaved Changes” confirmation dialog could never finish rendering the image thumbnail if one of the Move tools was active

Let me know if you do like it ;)
