| Office 2010 Professional Beta now public – Download now Posted: 19 Nov 2009 03:07 AM PST
I had posted about Office 2010 Beta available to MSDN and Technet subscribers now its made public.Go try out the cool features like online document syncing, Windows 7 taskbar integration, and killer quick steps etc. This was made live yesterday at Professional Developers Conference (PDC09) and can be downloaded via Microsoft Download Center. General public can now test and evaluate the latest version of Office 2010.The Build number of Office 2010 Beta is 14.0.4536.1000 which is newer than the previously leaked build 14.0.4514.1009 as mentioned in my previous post. Both 32-bit and 64-bit versions are available as what it was with MSDN and Technet versions. In addition to Office you can also download Microsoft Office Web Apps Beta. Similar to Windows 7 beta and most Microsoft offerings, this one also requires getting a license key, registering or signing in with a Windows Live/Passport account. The servers might be loaded with downloads. The download is 684 MB, and Microsoft is suggesting users uninstall previous versions of Office before downloading—as well as asking that you “don’t test Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta on your primary home or business PC.”So get it now fast. | Sayonara to Symbian Maemo i come -Nseries Nokia Posted: 19 Nov 2009 02:38 AM PST In this era of competition between the biggies like Nokia and Apple, many new trends are rising up like the Android the iPhone, and webOS based devices, are simply better than Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile (up to) 6.5 when it comes to doing what the today's users want from a smartphone – browsing the web, using Facebook and Twitter, gaming, and finding simple apps that will satisfy their specific needs. At the official N900 meet-up in London, Nokia has pretty much admitted it. Nokia's NSeries devices – i.e. most of their high-end smartphones – will all be powered by Linux-based Maemo by 2012.While this doesn't mean that Symbian is going away completely, it's a major focus shift from a platform that Nokia has been pushing for so long. Nokia has probably recognized that Symbian will not be able to compete with Android (Android) and the iPhone in the foreseeable future, so they've decided to build their own Android (Maemo, just like Android, is Linux (linux)-based) and push their flagship devices on it, while Symbian will probably keep powering the video and photo focused X and E-series devices. Nokia will first run its Maemo app portal, Maemo Select, alongside Ovi Store (Symbian app store), but plans to merge them into one later on. While we're thrilled to see more Nokias on the powerful Maemo platform, running two mobile smarpthone OSs and two separate app stores will definitely cause confusion to the customers. N900 is getting a awesome response soon to be released in US and this gives them a platform to start implementing more on the maemo OS and try to get back into the market share with iPhones and Androids. |
| ATI announces World’s fastest Graphics Card – ATI 5970 Posted: 18 Nov 2009 02:12 PM PST AMD is on a high note these days with releasing wonderful range of budget graphic cards with performance like the 5750, 5770 and the high end ones like 5850 and 5870.Today AMD announced their new dual graphics card – ATI Radeon HD 5970.Besides being the fastest, it's the one of the first(others being 5850 and 5870) to provide support for Microsoft DirectX 11 and Eyefinity multi-display at a max resolution of 7680×1600. As we all know ATI are no longer naming these dual cards “X2’s” as it is difficult to remember their names.HD 5970 is basically two RV870’s in one solution and the core clocks will be between 725-750mhz and has 3200 stream processors (2×1600) along with the 2GB GDDR5 memory via a dual 256 bit bus implementation. These are basically two 5800 series i.e HD 5850s running together the HD 5970 with 2x 80 texture units which is double what is implemented on a HD 5870. The rest of specification includes 160 texture units, 116 Gtexel/second texture fill rate, compute performance of 4.64 Tflops as well as 64 ROPs. Pixel fillrate is 46.4Gpixels/s, Z / stencil is at 185.6 Gsamples/s and the memory data rate is 4.0 Gbps. It’s outrageously fast. It delivers approximately 5 TeraFLOPS of computer power (and up to 10TeraFlops when combined with ATI CrossFire).Just imagine how fast it is. Maximum board power is 294W, while the idle power is 42W but its reportedly 325W.t’s also got easy access to overclocking via AMD’s OverDrive. There is no need to worry about heating as the advance onboard fan does cool the card pretty nicely due to the new vapour chamber technologies and a vented exhaust. Features & Benefits
Considering the fact that the Radeon HD 5870 is undeniably the fastest single-GPU powered graphics card currently on the market, this dual-GPU powered Radeon HD 5970 should offer performance that completely outclasses any other single graphics card on the market currently. The Radeon HD 5970 is now available for sale with a hefty price tag of $599.So who’s buying this ! Below is the one site i got which shows about the performance charts of 5970 Some links worth reading Read — HotHardware Review 5970 – TechTree |
