Several contents such as free images and templates as well as getting started guide for new Office 2010 apps in new streamlined format have been posted online, and available for free download.

You can make your self  ready for testing the office 2010 Starter edition which is in Beta by filling out a survey form. This gives you a chance to try out Office 2010 if you haven’t done so.The survey asks what type of computers you use at home, what kind of internet connection you have, and whether you’ve used Office in the past six months. Intriguingly, it also asks if you’ve used Google Docs or OpenOffice in the same time period.Filling out the survey won’t guarantee a place in the 2010 Starter beta program, but it certainly won’t hurt, if you’re itching for a chance to give it a go.

Windows Mobile 7 On Track for 3rd quarter 2010 release

Posted: 14 Nov 2009 10:09 PM PST

I had posted about what would be in the store for Windows Mobile 7 which is around the corner some time soon. The launch dates were not known but according to ZDNet Taiwan, the mobile OS is now on track for a release to OEMs for testing (the so-called “Maldives” program) sometime in the first quarter of 2010, and would be launched publicly sometime in the third quarter of the year (or about a year after the release of Windows Mobile 6.5) — all of which more or less lines up with earlier rumors of a release to manufacturing in Spring 2010.

To quote Inigo Montoya, “I hate waiting”. While WM7 is still on track for a late 2010 release, that seems like a lifetime away especially since the code will be more or less complete within the next 3-4 months. The competition  is getting more formidable by the day, and Microsoft risks losing relevance in a fast expanding market space with Android and Iphone catching up the mobile arena. Not much of buzz is happening around the Windows Mobile sector,Microsoft needs to get things under control as soon as possible as it did with Windows 7.Love to hear your views on this.
