It features an intuitive and innovative user interface with support for layers, unlimited undo, special effects, and a wide variety of useful and powerful tools as similar to Photoshop Corel Paint Shop Pro, Microsoft Photo Editor, and The GIMP.You get support on various plugins and tuts for paint.NET.Originally intended as a free replacement for the Microsoft Paint software that comes with Windows, it has grown into a powerful yet simple image and photo editor tool. Paint.NET 3.5 utilizes DirectWrite in Windows 7 to render text. DirectWrite is one of the new additions to the DirectX family of APIs in Windows 7 and enables better readability, adds support for a large variety of languages and scripts, and in conjunction with Direct2D provides superior rendering performance for Windows applications. The final release of Paint.NET 3.5 brings some new UI changes to the application. This "refreshed" UI takes advantage of Aero in Windows 7 and Vista. How to get this : Use the built-in updater from within Paint.NET. If you are using version v3.36, simply go to the Help menu and click on "Check for Updates." For v3.5 alpha/beta, go to the Utilities menu instead of the Help menu. Or, just wait for the update prompt to come up automatically within the next week or so. Changes since version 3.36 New: Refreshed user interface with new icons and visual styling. On Windows 7 and Vista, it is enhanced for Aero and “glass”. Performance and memory usage have been extensively optimized throughout the entire program. .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 is now required, which has many built-in performance improvements. Disk space usage has been reduced by about 12MB by using NTFS compression on installation files related to staging (.MSI) and diagnostics (.PDB). Compression for .PDN images has been improved. Effect dialog responsiveness has been improved. Images open much faster, especially on single CPU systems. Startup performance on most systems will be better by about 20%. Memory usage has been reduced when more than one image is open. Rendering quality has been greatly improved when zoomed in. The selection outline is no longer animated. Instead of “dancing ants”, a context-sensitive “XOR” stipple pattern is drawn. This has allowed for improved performance and lowered CPU consumption (and longer battery life). The font manager for the Text tool has been completely rewritten, which fixes many problems seen with crashes and missing fonts. On Windows XP, the Text tool has improved reliability and font selection (it uses GDI instead of GDI+). On Windows 7, the Text tool will use DirectWrite (instead of GDI) which gives better performance and greatly improved quality. On Windows Vista, you may install DirectX 11 to enable this feature; otherwise GDI will be used. The toolbar font list has improved usability, rendering quality, and significantly improved performance. The toolbar font list no longer requires an application restart to recognize newly installed fonts. When many fonts are installed, both memory usage and startup performance have been greatly improved. It is now drastically easier to move a very small selection. All installation prerequisites are now installed automatically, such as .NET and Windows Installer. Updates are now downloaded in the background, and installed after you exit the application. In previous versions, this was a foreground task and you could not use Paint.NET while the update was downloaded. Added a “Utilities” menu. Updates, Languages, and Plugin Errors have been moved there. Added a “Manage Fonts” command to the Utilities menu. This will launch the built-in Windows font control panel. Clicking the middle mouse button on an image thumbnail will now close the image. Improved the Unfocus effect. The DirectDraw Surface (.DDS) file type now allows you to select the resampling algorithm for auto-generated mip-maps. A processor that supports SSE is now required (almost all CPUs purchased this decade satisfy this). Fixed an issue with Gaussian Blur and its treatment of alpha values. Fixed a crash with the “Units” selector in the toolbar. Fixed a crash due to an overflow that prevented very large images from working (64-bit only). Dell launches World’s Thinnest Notebook Posted: 09 Nov 2009 12:46 AM PST Dell finally announced its highly-anticipated Adamo XPS notebook, which is currently the world's thinnest laptop. Measuring just 9.99mm in thickness, Dell Adamo XPS packs in 4GB of memory and relatively powerful fully-fledged dual-core microprocessor. The new system utilizes rather unique engineering solutions in order to enable the thinnest notebook ever. "Our engineers and designers are breaking new ground and throwing away the old rules with the introduction of Adamo XPS. We think the Adamo XPS will inspire an emotional connection with anyone who sees it," said Alex Gruzen, senior vice president of Dell consumer products. Dell Adamo XPS is based on Intel Core 2 Duo U9400 (1.40GHz) ultra low voltage processor and a core-logic set with integrated graphics core. The computer is equipped with 4GB PC3-6400 (800MHz) DDR3 memory, 128GB solid-state drive, 13.4" LED display with 720p output capability, 802.11n wireless network adapter, Bluetooth 2.1 adapter and so on. The notebook does not feature any optical drive, however, it has two USB 2.0 ports, audio output and, most importantly, replaceable battery, something that numerous computer makers sacrifice in order to make their computers even thinner. Dell did not unveil from what the case of the Adamo XPS is made. The world's thinnest Adamo XPS laptop also has design provides a unique experience. With a swipe of a finger, the keyboard appears from under the display as the system is open. When opened, the body of the Adamo XPS is raised so the keyboard is angled to enhance cooling. But the most unique thing about Adamo XPS is its thickness: just 9.99mm, or about 0.4", when closed. The pencil-thin Adamo XPS weighs just over 3 pounds (1.49 kilograms) and measures 13.39" x 10.71". Dell expects to begin taking orders and shipping the Adamo XPS with Microsoft Windows 7 pre-installed in time for the holidays. The Adamo XPS is priced starting at $1799.Now that’s costly i must say, but looks awesome.

Bangalore Mera Windows Windows 7 Community event Posted: 08 Nov 2009 12:25 PM PST You might be wondering why i haven’t been posting some info on new Tech stuff.Reason was i had gone to attend the Mera Windows Windows 7 Community event in Bangalore.It was held on November 7th i.e yesterday near a place called Malleshwaram in Bangalore.I took a bus from Mangalore to Bangalore reached on 11th morning.The event was scheduled from 5-8 IST in the evening.I called up my forum friend and he was kind enough to pick me up and we both reached the place 15 mins prior to starting time.The decorations were still in the process so i asked Rahul Nathan one of the MVP out there doing his duties if he needed assistance with the decorations.I was happy that i could assist some one in need.So me and my friend Akshay were assisting him and finally we were done with all the decorations.I also welcomed the invitees who had registered and also made a note of new guests and took them to their seats and made sure that every one was comfortable. There were other people there too and speakers like Mr. Pavanaja ,Venkat, Vijay,Kalyan etc.These gave a talk on some features of Windows 7.I was just  casually hearing what there were saying as i already knew about the topics  they were discussing.Some topics discussed were Bitlocker,Power efficiency,Aero Snap,Superbar,Virtual hard disks,Jump-lists,Remote Media streaming,Language packs, upgrade versions and bit more.After this, time was approaching 7 (we wanted to coincide Windows seven ceremony with 7 PM) and it was the time to cut the huge cake and launch the Windows 7 Community event Bangalore .Once the cake cutting was done there were some fun events and some small talk about Windows 7.As time was a constraint there, a short late tea break including chats and some cake were served to the guests.Once this was done a final vote of thanks was given by Rahul.I managed to get some pics of the event. from my cam.See below for pics.I loved being a part of the Bangalore event.Love to go in for many more of such events and share info.I reached Mangalore today evening and i was dead tired so just had a nap. Any body else attended there and didn’t notice me there pour in your name with comments.
