Novatech X70 CA Pro Full HD Screen Gaming Laptop

Posted: 12 Nov 2009 05:30 PM PST

This relatively compact (for a gaming notebook) 15.6in machine offers a Full HD screen and is equipped with the latest Intel processor technologies: an Intel Mobile Core i7 processor. This is attached to other expensive premium features such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 GPU, Blu-ray and 7,200 rpm, 500 GB hard drive, making the X70 Pro CA competitors very well endowed. The best of all this goodness will cost you very reasonable £ 1,550 excluding an operating system (£ 1635.09 included with the Windows 7 Home Premium), which is not anything like as painful a price to pay as much l ‘predecessors have offered.

Novatech X70 CA Pro Full HD Screen Gaming Laptop

Gaming laptops have always been a compromise. Not only are even the best of them much less powerful than their desktop counterparts, but you pay an arm and a leg for the privilege and as a rule, you can forget it, or be portable to provide a good life battery. However, in the office today, we have something special: the CA Novatech X70 Pro.

Like many gaming notebooks, the X70 Pro AC chassis is a product of the ODM Clevo, and is their model W860CU. At first sight it seems awfully similar to the disaster Clevo that housed the Rock Xtreme 840SLI-X9100. However, while part of this laptop and external have been designed by the Taiwanese company, it is far superior in terms of practicality. Its smooth, matte black plastic cover might not be as catchy as glossy finishes found on most laptops, but unlike those it will not be marred by countless fingerprints.

The display ‘frameless’ has also been removed, replaced by a standard plastic bezel. Again, it does not look good, but it is not as thoughtful, even if the glossy black plastic and reflective display so that their own problems. These eyes are moderately enhanced by the presence of a keyboard-type isolation. Most of this keyboard is quite good. Although not backlit, the keys give their shallow opinions and decent layout is almost like it should. There is also a full numeric keypad, although the only thing we really miss was the great innovation of the previous Clevo with its macro-programmable gaming keys. [via trustedreviews]

OCZ Tech Agility Series 120GB Solid State Drive

Posted: 12 Nov 2009 12:07 PM PST

We examined a large number of 120 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) from OCZ Technology in recent months (in case anyone confused, this is actually the disk of 128 GB to 120GB OCZ lists admirably to avoid misleading consumers about the real “usable” capacity). Back in March there was the Apex series, followed by the peak in June We are now trying to set Agility 120 GB, available for around £ 288.

OCZ Tech Agility Series 120GB Solid State Drive

Contrary to the summit, which was a record performance, agility is classified by OCZ as the main SSD. Even if you get the same guarantee of three years, the yield figures are lower, with 230 MB / s read, 135MB / s write and 80MB / s sustained write speed compared to the Vertex 250 , 180 and 100 Mb / s. These figures are still much to achieve excellent performance, though, so let see how the SSD is worth pursuing.

What you get in the package of Slim is minimal – in fact it is simply to drive and two pages. To be honest we prefer to see some screws and a support of 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch adapter included, as with the DSS TorqX Patriot, which makes installation in most cases, the tower less hassle. Even better is Kingston’s tactic of offering three different configurations of its readers with that comes the ordinary reader, the second containing the mount bracket, desktop, and others, including a caddy 2.5 “USB and drive cloning software that is ideal for laptop upgrades.

The 2.5in, 99.88 x 69.63 x 9.3mm drive is, as always, protected by a metal top and matt black base plate stainless steel, and is fairly lightweight at 92 grams. Connectivity consists of SATA power and data ports. The series Agility is available in three capacities: 30GB, 60GB and 120GB of our review sample, which is the largest size in the range. On early warning, however, does not receive Agility 30GB according to the review because it has significantly worse performance numbers (common with SSD low capacity because the controller is able to write modules flash less simultaneously). We expect to get into your smallest ability to quickly check what kind of performance difference, you can expect. [via trustedreviews]

Casio Exilim EX-Z33 Digital SLRs Compact Camera

Posted: 12 Nov 2009 10:40 AM PST

I spent much time recently to play with digital SLRs and compact luxury expensive upscale, so today I thought I took a look at the other end of the market with a camera costing budget less than 90 pounds. The Casio Exilim EX-Z33 is a new 10.1-megapixel ultracompact with a 3x zoom and a 2.5-inch 230k LCD monitor.

Casio Exilim EX-Z33 Digital SLRs Compact Camera

Most major manufacturers produce cameras in a range of prices and levels of sophistication and quality, which means that a model must be at the bottom of the range, and the Z33 is at the bottom of Casio. Casio is one of the oldest manufacturers of digital cameras set up by launching its first model in 1996, and currently some excellent ultra compact cameras like the EX-S12 and EX-H10 and that some cameras advanced broadband, including the EX-F1 EX-FH20 and super-zoom models, the EX-FC100 ultra-compact. The EX-Z33 is may be at the other end of the scale from these cameras, but he still shares one or two strokes with his sisters more high-tech.

Casio has not tried to look like something it’s not Z33. The body design is also fundamental that the specification, a clear plastic case with aluminum fascia and controls very simple. It is a very lightweight unit weighing just 122g with battery and memory card and measuring just 94.1 x 56.1 x 18.1mm it is thin enough to slip into a shirt pocket. Although with no frills quality of construction is good and the camera feels surprisingly solid given its weight. The Z33 is available in a variety of colors: silver, black, blue and two shades of pink. [via trustedreviews]

Marantz BD7004 Dolby TrueHD Blu-Ray Player

Posted: 12 Nov 2009 09:06 AM PST

The BD7004 is the last intermediary in Marantz’s Blu-ray line-up, sandwiched between the reference UD9004-class and entry-level BD5004. With a price tag pushing 700 pounds is clearly aimed at buyers who take home movies seriously, and this is reflected in the elegant quality of construction and electronic high grade hides inside.

Marantz BD7004 Dolby TrueHD Blu-Ray Player

You feel that you have entered a value of £ 700 from player when the first haul of the box. Thank you to a metal plate set-up to the upper cover, the front panel thick aluminum chassis and all metal, it tipped the scales at a substantial 4.9 kilograms. Cumbersome does not necessarily translate into high performance flight, but it is always a reassuring sign, construction and rigid as it helps to reduce vibration that can have a negative impact on performance.

As you’d expect from a game designed for demanding home theater systems, there is plenty of action on the rear panel. There are Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio decoders onboard and the 7.1-channel analog outputs you can enjoy hi-res soundtracks, even if your amp does not have HDMI. A separate set of stereo audio connections, isolated from the multi-socket, is best used for Straight-up CD playback, while the coaxial digital output passes the 5.1 audio stream to a receiver.

On the side of the video, HDMI v1.3 fires out pictures 1080/24p Blu-ray, Dolby TrueHD / DTS HD Master Audio bitstreams enhanced DVD video signals (720p, 1080i or 1080p). Hi Component outputs offer high definition video up to 1080i and enjoy a video 297MHz/12-bit CAD (the BD5004 provides a 150MHz version). [via trustedreviews]
