Netgear XAVB1004 Home Theater Internet Kit

Posted: 04 Nov 2009 05:00 PM PST

There is no doubt that the powerline Ethernet adapters are a brilliant invention. As times convenient as Wi-Fi is there when she simply can not provide the desired constant bandwidth for streaming high resolution video, or transfer large files without going mad with frustration thank you to the process so long . Even 802.11n does not solve the problems of Wi-Fi entirely. On the one hand, many devices such as televisions and many times the PS3 and Xbox 360, do not support the standard and for some purposes, mainly for online gaming, latency of wireless is most undesirable.

Netgear XAVB1004 Home Theater

Traditionally, the PowerLine Ethernet adapters cable also offered similar benefits of reduced wireless, too, eliminating the need to carry Ethernet cables in your house to get decent housing, stable connection and broadband. With an increasing number of devices all require an Internet connection, however, the clutter of cables is back. It is not difficult to imagine having a TV, a Freesat box and a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 drive and a Blu-ray in your living room, all wanting to get to your router.

The kit combines a four-port switch with an Ethernet adapter XB101, found in the package HDXB101. The packaging claims a transfer speed of 200 Mbit / s, which is a bit misleading. This figure is a theoretical maximum (with Ethernet connection operates in full duplex mode which is fair enough), but unless you use two adjacent taken or have incredibly high quality copper wiring in your property, you’ll never see nothing like the transfer speed.

Given its price, this kit is competing very closely with the Solwise HomePlug adapter Piggy6. Bearing in mind that you must add an adapter costs around £ 40 to Piggy6 to get the same functionality as the system NetGear, as the cost to just under £ 110 all in. While Piggy6 has the advantage of combining HomePlug functionality with a surge-protection against surges, the Netgear kit offers an additional Ethernet port. Which is more useful is debatable, but for me the additional port is the clear winner as he happens to have four devices require a connection ‘net in my AV set-up. [via trustedreviews]

Panasonic Viera TX-P58V10 Powerful 58in LCD TV

The screen P58V10’s weighs a powerful 58in. And as I noted in the review of very large screens before, it’s quite strange just how much additional impact this additional eight-inch screen offers a 50 “. It’s like the difference between a screen many households may face in a lounge and a large screen so most people would probably put in a movie theater dedicated.

Panasonic Viera TX-P58V10 Powerful 58in LCD TV

The enormity P58V10 does not end with the same area of the screen, either. For his glass is remarkably high, sticking around a couple of inches beyond each edge of the image. And the rather dull, gloss-nature, without the black rectangular glasses does not exactly display any less impact on your room. But hell. If you’re serious about buying a 58in TV that everywhere, I suppose that preserving the integrity of decorating your bedroom is not the main thing on your mind, right?

Of greater importance to your needs may be CONNECTIONS P58V10’s. And here, all done very well, if not quite excellent. For your HD / digital video sources, for example, you get four HDMIs - enough for a PS3, Xbox Elite, Sky HD Box and perhaps separate high-end Blu-ray, but one less than we Update on the Top-end screens from Samsung and Philips.

Also captures our eyes on the front of CONNECTIONS is an SD card slot that can parse JPEG, AVCHD and DivX files, plus a sizeable Ethernet port. This jack it was for not one but two. First, it should provide a portal service from the BBC iPlayer (should good old Aunty Beeb never really get the system up and running on the platform Freesat), and secondly it allows you to explore online services VieraCast Panasonic. Toshiba Fuel Cell Electronic Gadgets

Posted: 04 Nov 2009 05:25 AM PST

After hearing about fuel cells being the future in recent years, we see that this could well be the case that Toshiba have launched their fuel cell compared to Japan. Fuel cells provide instant power by filling the cell with methanol concentration. They are ideal for items such as laptops when we could simply make the extra fuel and working away without needing to recharge or plug in.

Toshiba Fuel Cell

The new Toshiba fuel cell called Dynario Toshiba acts as a battery charger with 50 mL of being able to recharge your mobile phone or other USB devices connected to a few times before needing recharging. If you travel a lot then this type of charger can be handy. Dynario only 3000 units were built for sale over in Japan that Toshiba are testing the ground to see what reception is like and if they prove to be popular, then they will seek to build more of these and other units .

Available now at Shop1048 costing $ 328, you’ll also be able to buy 5 refills for $ 34. Although a little too expensive and perhaps I would prefer a fuel cell that fits in my phone or laptop rather than an external charger, I hope that the first units are selling well, because improve the changes of these things are mass produced and techniques far more advanced. HTC Touch2 3.2 MP Smartphone

Turning to more practical considerations, there is a headphone jack on top so you can easily use your own headphones for listening to music. The sound quality is very good and we welcome the fact that it pauses the music when you unplug your headphones. On the bottom is the ubiquitous mini-USB data and charging socket so you should rarely have difficulty finding a replacement cable for charging. Next to this is where the stylus is stored, while on the left, there is a volume rocker and a microSD slot, which forces you rather annoying to be walking back to access.

HTC Touch2 Smartphone

Once the back is off, the battery is revealed and there is a 1100mAh unit. HTC cites figures impressive battery life of six hours of talk time and 20 days standby, but we found this led to three good days between charges, which is decent. The camera is only 3.2 megapixels and lacks autofocus and a flash if its uses are limited. However, it can take pictures very quickly, managing a picture every two seconds. It can also record video spoofs if the iPhone 3G in this regard.

The screen measures 2.8in diagonally, which is rather small by today’s standards that, when combined with a resolution of only 240 x 320 pixels and viewing angles less impressive, it leaves much to as desired media player. It never feels particularly restrictive in daily use as a phone, however, and it is at least somewhat more colorful and vivid. On the screen is touch sensitive horizontal band that you can drag left and right to zoom in and out of web pages and images. [via trustedreviews]
