Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Smart Phone Posted: 03 Nov 2009 02:25 PM PST Heavily fled in recent weeks, the X10 (code name “Rachael” and wrongly assumed that the X3) is the first smartphone based on Google Android and it could breathe new life into the Creator struggling handset. Why? Contrary to what we have long preached: due to the hardware rather than software. Because with Android at the heart of both devices at this time that we get the same thing. Yes, manufacturers are trying to do their part (Sense HTC, Motorola Motoblur) and Sony Ericsson uses the X10 to debut in the “custom UX Platform ‘Android skin that adds animations usual fantasy base Twitter and Facebook Customer / connect to the integration of Android drab exterior. When our enthusiasm grows really is but the X10 is the first handset manufacturer to see cutting loose on the equipment specifications. Therefore, you will find the X10 decked out with a capacitive touch screen 4-inch 854 x 480 pixels, HSUPA, WiFi, GPS, eight-megapixel Cybershot camera quality with autofocus, flash, smile shot, etc and the Snapdragon chipset flying with a 1GHz CPU core. Storage comes courtesy of 16GB built in plus a microSD expansion slot and - reasonably - a 3.5 mm jack for headphones. Accordingly, the X10 is by far the most powerful and well equipped Android handset to date, which makes it really stand out from other phones that integrate the operating system from Google. Image Editing Tutorial Selective Monochrome Camera Posted: 03 Nov 2009 08:25 AM PST Of all the tips Photo Editor you can try one of the most eye-catching is the selective effect monochrome, in which all but a selected area of an image is reduced to black and white, leaving only the topic in its original color. It is a popular effect which has been used in some well-known movies, including Schindler’s List. Some cameras, like many compact Pentax and Samsung have the opportunity to produce an effect similar to the device, using software filters to select specific colors, but the results are usually quite rough. To do this really selective Monochrome correctly you need a computer and a toolkit of image manipulation. For this tutorial, I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended as usual, but I concentrated on techniques that also work in most versions of Photoshop Elements, Paint Shop Pro, PhotoImpact, GIMP and the editing programs more advanced. Monochrome selective works best and is easiest to perform in images whose color of an element of the scene stands already on the bottom. As most of the effects of image editing more radical as it tends to be over-used, often on subjects for which it is totally inappropriate. The kind of image you should look for is something like this: By popular demand, I’ve included a downloadable version of the boot image of the month you are free to use for this tutorial, simply click on the image above, then use “click Right-Save As “to download full-size version to your computer. The file is about 3.7, so it may take several minutes to download depending on the speed of your Internet connection. [via trustedreviews] a |

Dell Latitude E6400 XFR 14.1inh Notebook Posted: 03 Nov 2009 03:25 AM PST As the video review explains in part the XFR E6400 is a little different from most other ‘fully rugged’ notebooks. It does not use processor ultra low voltage, but rather to supply full power of Intel Core 2 Duo and therefore a level of job performance. Also, as its name implies, this system is based on the same platform as the laptop Latitude E6400 Business Standard. This means that the same BIOS, the basic equipment and identical same level of connectivity, so you can take a disk from a XFR E6400 and put in a E6400 (or vice versa) and would work . A bonus potentially useful since the hard drive is hot swappable, although the E6400 standard does not quite as convenient. Since the XFR E6400 uses processors more powerful than people like the Panasonic Toughbook CF-30 is not passively cooled, as it is, either. Instead, he uses what Dell calls its QuadCool system thermal management, which uses a fan cooling system that is isolated from the rest of the system. It works pretty well, but the system does get pretty noisy when under heavy load - no surprise, really, since Dell also offers discrete graphics in the form of an nVidia Quadro NVS 160M with 256 MB of RAM. This is not included in the starting price, however, which brings you just the standard integrated Intel graphics. Indeed, as is always the case with Dell, working exactly what you can or can not have is like a cryptic puzzle particularly irritating. Some options are available in one place but not another, and sharp fluctuations of prices, too. For example, if the purchase of a company as small or medium size in the starting price is £ 2699 exc. VAT, but you do not have access to all available options such as a touch screen and integrated HSDPA. For those you must be a buyer of large companies, but then the official starting price is £ 2932 - a somewhat theoretical since contracts for large orders will be negotiated individually, anyway! Canon LEGRIA HF21 Digital Camcorder Posted: 02 Nov 2009 08:25 PM PST The biggest difference from the previous model is the amount of storage on board. Instead of 32 GB, you get 64GB of flash memory. Even at the higher quality mode, which records to 24Mbits/sec, that is enough for six hours of filming, which will be more than sufficient for most holidays. There are four quality modes other, too. At the lowest setting that works 5Mbits/sec, you can install a huge 24 hours of video on embedded memory, and there is a SDHC slot available if you want more. The first two modes of use as a Full HD resolution, but the last three down to 1.440 x 1.080, as HDV. Thank you to the use of flash memory, the HF21 is surprisingly compact, too, weighing only 340g. The HF21 offers a fairly healthy level of functionality. There minijack microphone and headphones, the latter doubling as the AV output. Manual level control is available for pickups, too. There’s even an accessory shoe, protected by a plastic tab. But this is Canon “S” Mini Advanced shoe rather than a standard size, so you’ll be limited to devices owners. The icing on the cake is missing, however, as there is no lens ring available. Instead, all the manual settings are configured through commands around the LCD. By itself, the controller accesses the menu system quickly, a relatively recent addition to the interface of Canon camcorders. This allows quick access to most frequently used settings such as turning on the video light function and pre-registration. This video reels constantly, which is marked on the top of the file when you click save, so if you’re slow to react, you do not necessarily miss a shot. [via trustedreviews] a |
