Download Google Chrome OS[Unofficial release] Posted: 01 Oct 2009 03:32 PM PDT You might have seen some screens of the, soon to be released( in Q4 of 2010) Operating System from Google i.e Google Chrome OS.But if you are a die hard of linux and would love to explore how this is,then this can be possible. How ? By downloading and installing the custom-build Linux OS.This custom build was made by a Google fanboy who didn’t like waiting for Chrome OS to be released. It loads up with a Chrome icon and comes with GNOME 2.24 desktop environment. By default the apps link to GMail, Google Calendar, and other Google app services. For office apps there is Openoffice integrated.Lifehacker quotes as, "It holds the latest development copy of Google Chrome inside, along with a pre-built Flash plug-in". If you are one of those Linux geeks and would love to check and compare how good it is then give it a try by downloading from the link below. This comes in ISO and Virtual images.Download PowerISO or Isobuster for ISO images and Virtualbox or VMwarePlayer for Virtual Images(VMDK) |
Hide running programs in Windows using Winrap Posted: 01 Oct 2009 02:56 PM PDT I always used to run some free apps/softwares in my office for testing purpose but due to my complaint by my system admins for using bandwidth they have blocked access to some of the sites. But whenever i install any app i don’t want my system admins to find out what app i have been installed and testing.I found some awesome utility named WinRAP v1.0 (Windows Running Applications Protector). It allows users to instantly hide any running programs to prevent them from being seen by unauthorized third parties. This is a very tiny app hardly taking up 300Kb on you hard disk monitors your processes and gives you a option to hide the installed apps from restricted users.Once you have downloaded the utility, users can directly execute the program for immediate use. After the app opens up,it will display all the running applications instantly and users can selectively highlight on specific running applications and just followed by a 'Hide' button click, the applications will disappear from your screen. Similarly, a click on 'Unhide' button will bring them back to its original state, allowing all users to view it like normal way. What if you have too many apps to hide.Don’t you worry this utility will list them down under 'List of hidden applications' so that you are aware of which one is still running silently in background consuming some of your CPU cycles. One more good feature is enabling a password(default 1234) to access to all the configuration such as to 'Unhide All When Closing', 'Disable Task Manager When Locking' and many more as well as Hotkeys to unlock stealth mode locking and etc. Some other bonuses include Hide Desktop Icons, Hide/Unhide all that make it a tiny but yet useful tool for those that are looking for way to make running programs invisible especially when trying to share desktop screen for discussion. WinRAP is compatible with Windows OS and can be downloaded here.Post your views how do you like it. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
