Olympus Mju 9000 Mega Zoom Digital Camera

Posted: 21 Oct 2009 05:15 AM PDT

The segment of mega zoom camera with a compact size has always been dominated by Panasonic TZ (Travel Zoom) camera series. Other brands already offered a mega-zoom camera with 18x zoom and bigger in their sets, so why produce another similar device in a compact size? However, it soon became evident that Panasonic has managed to strike the right chord with its TZ-series, which eventually led other brands, including Olympus, into action.

Olympus Mju 9000

Since the introduction of the compact camera first, thousands of designs have been launched on the market. Lately, there seems to be more emphasis on color. Some camera models are now available in 6 different colors. The design however is generally predictable and a rectangular shape, with or without curved lines, integrated flash, LCD screen on the back, etc. This makes it a real challenge ahead with a true revolutionary, unique design. However, in most cases, it is simplicity that makes the trick with the IXUS is the best example. The base is nothing but a rectangle with a circle in the center. This is the basis of each and every Ixus.

Activation of the Olympus Mju 9000 is carried out just as I expected. After about 2 seconds, the device is ready to take the pictures. The control dial on the back of the device side of the screen offers several programs shooting. The simplest method is called the i-mode Auto. The camera automatically selects the best mode to capture the scene. It is a fully automatic mode that lets you take pictures in the best possible conditions for this particular scene, by simply pressing the shutter. This mode disables a number of functions in the unit. After activating the menu, you will not be able to access the menu of the camera, scene or panorama mode.

It is not so easy today for a manufacturer to stand out from the crowd. Many innovative technologies are readily available and can be used through a license to equip the device with all sorts of useful features. Each manufacturer has to deal with high resolution, we now see that 10 million pixels are regarded as a minimum, and also the issues that accompany it, such as noise, etc. We have had the Olympus Mju 9000 in the office for a short period of time and tested the camera in practice. In addition, the Mju 9000 has also been made by testing the technical DIWA test lab. [via letsgodigital]

Acer neoTouch S200 People Associate Smartphone

Acer is a name most people associate with computers rather than portable smartphone, but the company has purchased the Glofiish brand in 2008 and released its first batch of handsets this year. These offers were initially a bit mixed. While the F900 is quite impressive, the X960 and M900 look outdated before it even reaches the shelves. However, Acer is back with four units built on the new “Windows Phone” (v6.5) operating system. We’ll take a look at these phones in more detail in the coming weeks, but first up is the S200 NeoTouch rather fast.

One thing is sure, no one can accuse this handset to be under specified. To begin, this is only the second device after TG01 Toshiba to hit the market with a processor 1GHz Snapdragon. Of course, the clock speed is not everything when it comes to processors, but the snapdragon is a really fast processor and seriously the extra speed it offers is very present here.

The processor is assisted by a decent amount of memory. There is 512MB of ROM (about 220MB is free) and 256 MB of RAM (100 MB free). More if you need more storage space you can add it via the microSD card slot which is somewhat awkwardly placed under the battery cover (though thankfully you do not remove the battery to swap the cards).

Acer has not skimped when it comes to the screen either. The screen is big enough to 3.8in and, although he uses the resilience rather than technology, it feels much more responsive than the screen used on the F900 handset Acer. The screen also has a relatively high resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, making it ideal for viewing web pages, and as it is bright and gives really very bright colors, videos and photos look ace. The Inpulse SmartWatch is described as an accessory for your BlackBerry Smartphone. The Inpulse can be used in addition to your smartphone and be used to relay messages from the BlackBerry. Ideal situations might include being stuck in an office meeting and feel your phone vibrate to notify you of a message. Rather than making your phone, you could simply look at your watch to see who sent you a message and decide whether to respond.

According to Crackberry, renderings above and below are the real deal. The device is manufactured by a 3rd party accessory that worked on the SmartWatch from the base. Also with the OLED screen is that it helps to ensure autonomy for decent shows between charges.

The watch is designed to display a number of reports and extracts as and when checking into your BlackBerry. If the 3rd party company to open the phone with an API, it could allow custom applications to also have access to the screen on the camera to relay their own status messages. [via gadgetvenue ]
