Lexmark Interact S605 Touch Screen Printer

Posted: 04 Oct 2009 01:00 AM PDT

The touch screen is capacitive, so answers to the key, even if the angle of the screen can sometimes mean that you press the button above the one you’re after, until you get used to. The key controls cover the same features as physical, so you have screens dedicated to copying, scanning and printing from memory cards, among others.

Lexmark Interact S605

Besides the touchscreen, facilities on the S605 are quite similar to those machines further down the line. This is not one of the range Pro machines, so there is no automatic document feeder on the scanner lid, where it does business as Top-textured, rather than strong annoying-gloss. One memory card slot takes SD, Memory Stick and xD and there’s a USB jack that supports both PictBridge and USB drives.

Stationery from a stream of 100-sheet tray to fold back for a pull-out output tray at the front. 100-sheet capacity is low, even for a machine to the house. The only data socket at the back is USB, but most people will make use of wireless machine. Configuring a wireless connection is easy if you have a WPS or WPA security on your network. With WPA, a screen keyboard lets you enter a passphrase, without the need to temporarily connect via USB.

Lexmark Vizix new printing system is shown on the S605 Interact with its four individual ink cartridges and semi-permanent head. All this is fairly easy to implement, well fitting charger should have a more positive click when each is pushed up. Lexmark has taken advantage of the touchscreen S605 to introduce what he calls SmartSolutions. This is the print-based applets that can be downloaded and stored in the printer itself and provide additional functionality beyond what is already installed on the machine. [via trustedreviews]
