Big B – Amitabh Bachchan to sizzle on television with Bigg Boss 3 Posted: 08 Sep 2009 10:46 AM PDT Bigg Boss is all set to come up with their season 3 edition on Colors Television. Bigg Boss as we all know is the Indian adaptation of UK’s largest reality Television show “Big Brother“. The first edition was won by former actor Rahul Roy. In this new edition, the surprise package comes in the form of ‘Big B’ Amitabh Bachchan. The Bollywood Super star will be replacing the sensational Shilpa Shetty who was the host of Bigg Boss 2.
So, what makes Reality shows like Bigg Boss popular? It could be the sneak peek moments, real life like conversations, chemistry between the various participants and bitchy moments which induces the ’spice’ element in the show. Hence, reality show could be considered a means to vent out the voyeuristic aspect that audiences have within them, which is entrapped and fails to surface in normal life situation. Apart from it, reality shows could also be a means to know the ‘real’ side to stars and their temperament. So, in short, it is about thrill and intrigue rather than a more meaningful context. One would have to wait and watch if this year’s Bigg Boss 3 is making an attempt to change the perception of the audience towards a reality show. By roping in Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan to host Bigg Boss 3 will surely make a remarkable difference to the show in terms of eyeballs and popularity. The star cast of the show is not yet decided and audience would have the onus to decide the residents of Big Boss House. Amitabh Bachchan would act as a truth-seeker wherein he will comment on the behavior of all the contestants in the house and analyze why they behave in a particular manner and also act as an association between the Bigg Boss contestants and the viewers. He will also analyze the weekly developments in the house. Amitabh Bachchan returns to the silver screen after a break of four years, ( he last he featured in Kaun Banega Crorepati season 2 and will be seen sizzling on small screen once again.) For all his devout and diehard fans, his return to television would come as a big news. To the millions who still remember ‘Lock Kiya Jaye‘ from Kaun Banega Crorepati, this legendary actor with his baritone voice created an entire aura of aplomb and warmth which gave the contestants a cushion of comfort in the show. For Colors it is a rocking season with two breathtaking shows coming up i.e. Khatron ke Khiladi level 2 and Big Boss 3 in the pipeline. The channel is already ruling the General Entertainment space with their shows like Balika Vadhu and Na Aana Is Des Laado. So, one would have to wait and watch whether it is able to extend its lead with Bigg Boss 3… Catch the action at Bigg Boss 3 Videos, Promos and Episodes |
Posted: 08 Sep 2009 09:17 AM PDT The recent “Walk when you talk” commercial is the fifth sequel of Idea cellular’s brand campaign with their brand ambassador Abhishek Bachchan. All Idea campaigns revolve around the basic motto- To communicate a message to the masses of India. They did this having themes like providing education to all, importance of a democratic government in India to this recent commercial’s message linking health and fitness with the use of mobile phones.
The Idea commercial “Walk when you Talk” is a little complicated in terms of execution as not many people may not be able to get the message properly (in terms of linking fitness and technology by talking over mobile phones). They could have perhaps used a simpler way of communicating to the audience the relation between walk and talk. But overall Idea commercials have been innovative and good in communicating a social message to the audience of India. The following are the videos of all Idea commercials: |
Surf Excel Advertisement – Daag Ache Hain… Posted: 06 Sep 2009 07:08 AM PDT The recent Surf Excel commercial featuring a teacher and her student is similar to its predecessors and tows the same line that one need not stop living life to the fullest fearing dirt and grime on clothes; in short â€"”Daag Achche Hain“. Take a stroll down memory lane and you could recollect countless detergent commercials which showcased unhappy housewives toiling hard with grime on clothes. And then would come the detergent brand bringing happiness along with it by removing all the dirt in a flash! This line of thought was shunned with a radical and new course by Surf Commercials that clothes are bound to get dirty but that should not hamper living life the way one should i.e. to the fullest! The recent new commercial of Surf Excel portrays the efforts undertaken by a student to help his teacher get over the grief over the loss of her pet. It also brings out the respect and care that the student has for his teacher. The story line shows that the teacher is very upset as her dog passed away and doesn’t come to school. So her student tries to pacify her and bring a smile on her face by mimicking a dog’s gestures. He gives a ball in the teacher’s hand and asks her to throw the ball so that he could go and fetch it just like her pet ! Ignoring his dress which is all white, he goes around in the muddy garden to fetch the ball and gives it to his teacher and she plays with him just as she did with her dog. In the process, he makes his dress dirty, just to bring a smile in his teacher’s face! The commercial is short and well shot and executed. It somewhere also brings the emotional connect between a teacher and her student and their ability to share the joy and sorrows with each other. The innocence of kids is shown well in the advertisement which also highlights the thought process of children that transcends materialistic aspects like dirt and grime on clothes hindering their daily activities. Surf Excel’s two recent commercials are focusing on the aspect that stains are good and that children are bound to make their dress dirty. So living life with dirt without fearing it! A famous quote by Charles Gordy –

Posted: 29 Aug 2009 09:37 AM PDT Looks like I have got addicted to Twitter now, sharing more web information updates in twitter than in my own blog . For people who don’t know what twitter is all about, here is a small introduction. Twitter is another social networking web sites (among 100’s of such sites), but it is different. Why? you may ask. Twitter lets you share your thoughts, ideas, updates, what you are doing, where you are etc in 1 simple click.
For people who don’t want to or have no time to write paragraphs and paragraphs about their views in a blog, twitter lets them share their idea in a simple 140 characters. It helps people stay in touch with their friends, get to know their opinions and statuses. You can “follow” your friends, have them as your “followers”, share your “tweets” with them and end up “twittering/tweeting” for hours and hours. It helps celebrities, politicians, sports stars to stay in touch with their fans as well. Twitter is also very simple to use, to share information right away with just CTRL+C and CTRL+V – I have started using twitter not just for status updates but as my bookmarking and link sharing site as well . Whenever I come across a new cool site, which is useful for future use, I used to add them to my browser favorites or bookmarks, but I never refer back to them later:) (I am sure there are many like me). Bookmarks can be sometimes cluttering and difficult to search. Using twitter helps me to save these links online which is more easier to refer back to. More importantly, browser bookmarks are lost once the browser crashes or the system crashes, but twitter helps me bookmarks these sites permanently. And these links could be useful to other web masters round the world and my twitter account helps me share these links with them too. These days I seem to be tweeting more than blogging and I feel the urge to look for something to tweet today than to write an article on my blog. Do you share the same feeling like me? Please share your thoughts on twitter and your twitter usage. You can follow our tweets at: http://twitter.com/wittysparks |
Posted: 29 Aug 2009 03:24 AM PDT As the name suggests, Quick Gun Murugun has a hero bearing semblance to cowboy of the West, firing from his pistol in a bid to defeat evil. Well, if you thought that shooting was all that the movie offers, then you would be mistaken. It is a spoof that borrows some typical cliches’ from the movies of yesteryears and ‘tries’ to weave a ‘funny’ story around the same thereby giving the viewer an impression of light movie with a touch of the Channel V or MTV kind of a promo stretched for an hour and a half! So a suggestion to those who wish to watch Quick Gun Murugun, leave your brains at home when you go to watch this movie! Quick Gun Murugun – Trailer – Watch More Videos of Quick Gun Murugun The movie’s star cast has Dr. Rajendraprasad who plays Quick Gun Murugun and lives up to the role pretty well. Then there is Nasser who plays the lead villain and Rambha who plays Mango Dolly along with Anu Menon (Lola Kutty). The plot is silly by its kind ( being a spoof) and meanders in all possible directions!. The special effects, garish and bright dresses and a few dialogues in between make it slightly humorous. The odd humor in between gives the impression of little ‘eddies’ in the middle of a lake of drag! The second half of the movie becomes a little monotonous and the catchy phrases and effects slowly begin to fade away. The actors have done justice to their respective characters in the movie and one should give credit to Dr. Rajendra Prasad to have played the character and carried it well. In the end, it would be fair enough to say that the movie could be taken as a ‘refresh’ item in the current times but falls short by some distance to meet the expectations. |
