Asus Delivering Blu-ray via USB Posted: 22 Sep 2009 04:13 PM PDT Blue ray is all hype these days every one wants to buy Blue ray drives and media and watch some awesome movies supported by monstrous graphic cards.DVICE is reporting that Asus is gearing up to launch an external Blu-ray player later this month. According to the website, the SBC-04D1S-U external Blu-ray drive only offers one connection: USB 2.0.Apparently,the drive doesn’t offer any other type of output–no HDMI,no AC power jack, but rather sends and receives through the single USB port. In addition to reading 4.8X Blu-ray discs, the external drive is also capable of writing 8X DVD-Rs and CD-Rs. Asus also said that the drive features a “Turbo Engine for enhanced USB Connectivity” which is probably what helps the drive crank out HD video to the monitor without additional video cables. Additionally, the Blu-ray drive uses TrueTheater High Definition, transforming standard content into HD-quality images on high-resolution displays. The drive also comes with a vertical stand, Disc Encryption, and additional Cyberlink software. Currently there’s no pricing available, however stay tuned for more in the next several weeks. |
Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 and HD 5850 HQ pics Posted: 22 Sep 2009 03:48 PM PDT TechpowerUp got some awesome High Quality(HQ) pics of Sapphire Radeon HD 5870 and 5850 the upcoming series of graphic cards by ATi which will support DirectX 11.It’s based on the 40nm fabrication technology. The cards sport the usual sticker design of a CGI girl in a reddish background. With these cards having the cosmetic “red-streak” cleaving the cooler shroud in the center, the so is the sticker. This is also perhaps the first public picture of the Radeon HD 5850, and our size projections were right: While the Radeon HD 5870 maintains a long PCB, the HD 5850 is about as long as a Radeon HD 4870 (reference design). Both accelerators stick to the reference AMD design. These would be a bit shorter than 4870 X2.It is predicted that ATI is going to be extremely short on supply for the new 5800 series considering that it has allocated a large portion of the first production run to Dell.
