Lexmark Interpret S405 Touch Screen Controls Printer Posted: 15 Sep 2009 06:00 PM PDT It’s that time of year when the printer makers introduce new models and all major players ramping up their marketing machine. Lexmark has more than most of us say, with a new ink system and new touch screen controls on some of its top models. The S405 to interpret the new inks, but not the screen and is designed as a medium-level all-in-one for home and small businesses. Dressed in dark gray frosted and lightweight, the S405 is still very bright highlights, such that the top of its horizontal fully automatic document feeder (ADF). The paper is picked up and put the ADF in much the same way as blank cards are picked from a horizontal paper tray.Blank sheets on this machine still feed from a hopper vertically near the back, even if it was the innovation of a small slide, down his right side, which adjusts the paper guides of A4 photo paper. The output tray pulls ahead with a steeply inclined end, that switches up to catch the exit pages. The control panel with his band acrylic slightly incongruous in the upper part, is well presented, with a keypad to use the fax and a simple set of four navigation buttons which, combined with its backlit 2-line 16 character LCD display, gives good control of machine functions. Four silver buttons above the screen, select copy, scan, fax and photo print modes. There’s just taking a memory card that takes SD, Memory Stick and xD formats, but there is also a USB jack, which is just as happy with a USB memory drive as it is with a PictBridge camera. There is another USB port and an Ethernet port to connect the printer to your PC, but Wi-Fi is built to provide the wireless option increasingly popular too. The ink system, called Vizix is brand new and Lexmark has made changes in individual ink cartridges and separate printheads semi-permanent, are more integrated into the cartridges. In this regard, it is very similar to recent Canon and HP designs, although Lexmark cartridges are slightly more fiddly fit into the door header. There’s the usual wide range of software support, including for Abbyy FineReader Optical Character Recognition. Now there is better integration with Word, too. [via trustedreviews] a |

Samsung LE32B550 32in Full HD LCD TV Posted: 15 Sep 2009 09:01 AM PDT Back in August, we tested Samsung 40in LE40B550 and we are really surprised by the level of performance he delivered for the princely sum of £ 519. In fact, we were so surprised that we immediately put in motion to get their hands on the 32in version of the whole, given the mass market of first and second application, room size 32in. Today, LE32B550 duly arrived. And I might as well say at once that it is equally remarkable that his brother’s largest, if not a bit more compared to the same size of the competition. For starters, Samsung is almost unfair aggressive pricing on the range B550 continues, as I found the LE32B550 sold - or should we give? ” - For just £ 392.15. It would be a very fair price for any 32 “TV, never mind an exercise that ends as strongly as this one. As with virtually all other Samsung TVs at this time, pending the LE32B550 looks very good very attractive. The application of a glass type “see through the top sheet on pure black bezel adds a real touch of class and makes the screen look more luxurious in its build quality than it actually is.The only unfortunate thing about the whole is aesthetically the distance at which the rear tire. The depth actually seems deeper than usual by the standards of 32in LCD TV and is in Stark, Chubby contrast to ultra-slim Samsung B7000 and B8000 LED array board. But then, given how much cheaper the LE32B550 is that while offshore LED Samsung, I suspect that many people reading this review will not find a couple extra inches of depth from the back too hard to live.As the body, specifications Key LE32B550’s do not seem to have the right to belong to a sub-£ 400 32in TV. It’s a Full HD TV to begin with, and has excellent connectivity, including four HDMIs, a PC port and a USB jack that can play both JPEG photos and MP3 audio files. [via trustedreviews] a |

IEEE 802.11n Standard Networking Posted: 14 Sep 2009 06:13 PM PDT The IEEE has finally put the rubber stamp on 802.11n finally remove the tag ‘Project’ which was suspended over his head for seven years and make absolutely no difference to the public who used the successor to 802.11g happiness since mid-2007. WiFi alliance had initially claimed that he “merely small additions option to coincide with the finalization of the 802.11n standard later this year. The program update test will maintain interoperability with over 600 Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 802.11n draft 2.0 released since June 2007. “Fortunately, this time, organizations stuck true to their words and new WiFi standard logo had to reduce this” project “of his appearance. Of course, at this stage Draft 802.11n is so widespread that there was little choice to do whatever the final standard other than interoperability with her, since manufacturers tired of waiting for development there are many moons. In fact, the only products not Draft N predominant feature as standard nowadays are smartphones and netbooks. Pleasantly, we also reached a point where the new official standard is already beginning to show its age. 802.11n maximum theoretical 300MBit, but real world testing, it is well below half of that under ideal conditions. Put some distance and some thick walls between the router and computer and streaming Full HD (1080p) around a home network becomes a real challenge. Share this connection with other home users streaming and say goodbye to your high-definition hijinks. [via trustedreviews] a |
