aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock Gadgets

Posted: 12 Sep 2009 03:11 AM PDT

Nobody is particularly keen to get up in the morning, so anything that can make this task is unfortunately necessary easier probably a good thing. This is exactly what the aXbo Clock offers, but with a cost (including shipping) from 217 Euros around £ 190. Yes, nearly 200 pounds for a revival if it must be seriously special to justify the cost.

aXbo Sleep Phase Alarm Clock

While the design is not enough to convince, it is easy to see why aXbo SPAC (an unfortunate acronym) has won many awards in this category. Its glossy finish and white and silver, sculptured curves and symmetrical appearance is attractive to the eye and should sit well with modern decor.

All this bodes well for the next high tech aXbo. You see, to help you feel fresh and ready to go in the morning, it measures your movements during the night and then wakes you at the best time until 30 minutes before the “last days” warning as decided by you. This, says aXbo is that you just never woke up at the perfect time for you, not when you’re still in a period of deep sleep that will make you feel weak and tired.

How does it do? In the box with the alarm clock, AC adapter and USB cable are two small plastic sensors and matching bracelets. When you go to bed, you set your alarm, then activate the sensor, the slide inside the bracelet, you will be ready to wear while you sleep. This test measures your movements during the night, which then interprets the clock to work out the sleep phase you are in. You should wear one of these sensors, however, with the further condition so that two people can the used simultaneously.

In addition, using the supplied USB cable, you can download your sleep data to your PC and view it using the software tool’s aXbo. This can be downloaded from the website aXbo, which oddly requires that you register and enter the serial number of your device. This feature could be very clean, but the software provides absolutely no idea of the data, making unnecessary a little beyond knowing exactly how long you slept - somewhat difficult to work anyway. Sonea Converts Noise Concept Gadgets

Posted: 11 Sep 2009 09:04 PM PDT

The Sonea is a concept gadget that converts the sound energy to be used to power such things as lights, phone chargers and even mobile TV. The device must be installed in a very noisy to be useful, so keep it at home might not be the best option and instead, hold it in a local construction site.

Sonea Converts Noise Concept Gadgets

According to the designers is that it is capable of producing 30 watts of power for every decibel of his product. If installed on a track the sound of a system can produce 240 kilowatts of power. I am not sure myself what this all seems a little too theoretical and perhaps a bit exaggerated as I would have waited an entire wall of these people would be required to produce a decent amount of power. Acer Aspire 5536-744G50Mn Smaller Notebook

Posted: 11 Sep 2009 06:03 PM PDT

Acer needs to do something on his laptop Aspire naming scheme, this is not exactly intuitive to go into a shop and ask for a 5536-744G50Mn! However, based on previous efforts such as the award-winning Aspire 7735Z-424G32Mn we hope for good things from this very specific and based on AMD 15.6in machine.

Acer Aspire 5536-744G50Mn Notebook

At first glance, its chassis is very similar to its large 17.3in cousins. It sports the same glossy black finish on its blue cover, which in no time will be decorated with unsightly fingerprints, while the basic layout is very similar. A small difference is that the lid is kept closed by a little left-to-push clasp springed, but otherwise, just a smaller version of the same design.

Fortunately, despite a glossy black bezel the rest of the machine is dull, rendered in a very attractive combination of gray gun metal and black. Build quality is very good and there is no sign of keyboard flex is on the AMD 7535G-824G50Mn. Acer has opted for a smooth (but not slippery) surface for the touchpad off and reactive, rather than the textured finish of his surroundings. A position that should prevent accidental Palm smears, but if it becomes a problem for you, as all recent laptops Acer The 5536 offers a touchpad with backlight off button.

Acer Aspire 5536-744G50Mn back

A large blue backlit power button is always an attractive touch, with the biggest change being that the wireless switches and a button backup went from next to the keyboard just above. Although - as with the previous two, we examined Aspire who share this view - there is no Bluetooth on board, it is always nice to have a Wi-Fi physical switch.

In addition to the same button Launch Manager found on the 7535G, it is also the welcome addition of dedicated volume controls physical (but no mute button) and you always retain the possibility to use secondary functions on the cursor keys. Move the keyboard, it is very good. Layout is Spot-On, with everything in its place, clever shortcuts, and a full numeric keypad. Score is crispy, but a little too shallow for ideal comfort. However, typing on the 5536 is a pleasure.

Multi-touch is another feature that is now almost standard on portable machines from Acer. It works very well here, allowing you - for example - Pinch zoom in and out of photos and Web pages, although this is not a patch on the implementation of Apple. Our only niggle with the touchpad’s buttons. Incorporated into a single toggle switch, the left side is easy to press and offers a positive, but the right requires a bit of a stretch.
