Nokia Surge to be released worldwide as 6760

Posted: 22 Jul 2009 03:00 PM PDT

Nokia 6760 a.k.a Nokia Surge

Nokia will be releasing the Surge as the Nokia 6760 in locations other than the United States. The 6760 is every bit the same as the Nokia Surge, except that the former has a slightly higher megapixel count. 6760 features a 3.2 megapixel shooter while the Surge only shoots in 2 megapixels.

The landscape 6760 slide sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display, QWERTY keypads, 3.2-megapixel snapper and support for up to 8GB of storage with microSD (it comes with a 2GB card). Talk time is a healthy five hours, though with all that messaging functionality it's the 500 hours standby time that'll have bigger appeal. The 6760 also comes with A-GPS which serves up mapping treats through 3D landmarks and terrain mapping.

The Nokia 6760 will be available on the 3rd quarter of 2009 for €199 or approximately $283 USD before subsidies and taxes. It will initially be available in black. If you’re lucky enough, your country might get red and white variants later this year.

Yahoo! home page gets a makeover

Yahoo! Home Page Makeover (Full View | July 22, 2009)

The Yahoo! home page has gotten a makeover today and it looks a lot cleaner except for the My Favorites column on the left hand side. With the straight column of icons, it just screams LOOK AT ME, WILL YOU?! I would have to say that the compact view (Photo) is a lot easier on the eyes though.

Yahoo! didn’t exactly have a horrendous looking home page to begin with. I guess they just wanted to tweak things a bit to make it more comfortable to look at.

Verizon-branded BlackBerry Tour 9630 running Sprint software?!

BlackBerry Tour Mix-up

CrackBerry forum member kurpaige ordered a BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphone from Sprint but to his surprise, the box contained a Verizon-branded BlackBerry Tour instead!

Internally, the device is Sprint’s BlackBerry Tour indeed, as confirmed by the user. Even the bezel of the device is chrome (or the lighter bezel) as opposed to Verizon’s BlackBerry Tour, which has a darker bezel.

There would probably be some employees scratching their heads over this once the user decides to ask for support at a physical Sprint store location. Why the heck are you asking for support for a Verizon phone on a Sprint store!?

Verizon-Branded BlackBerry Tour 9630 Smartphone Running Sprint Software

Makes everyone wonder what precautions Sprint will be taking in order to prevent this mishap from ever happening again.

Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience for the PlayStation 3 is the first Blu-ray film and game hybrid which includes both the game, Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2, and the film, Watchmen: Director’s Cut on full 1080p high-definition Blu-ray.

The latter is available on Amazon right now for $3 less, making it $46.99.

Providing Watchmen fans with a variety of purchase options, the game will be offered in the following formats.

  • Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience is a distinct, retail Blu-ray Hi-Def game and film hybrid which will include the Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 video game and the Watchmen: Director's Cut on Blu-ray. This two-disc collectible set of the action-packed blockbuster includes an additional 25 minutes of footage not seen in theaters and exclusive artwork in a premium collector's package. Both the game and Blu-ray disc are playable on the PLAYSTATION®3 entertainment system. Watchmen: The End is Nigh The Complete Experience launches today for a retail price of $49.99.
  • Watchmen: The End is Nigh Parts 1 and 2 is available today for the first time as a single game on Xbox 360 for $29.99.
