An appropriately named site, HomeTheaterInaBoxReview.com, has recently reviewed a HTIB from Yamaha’s 2009 line-up, the YHT-591.

The reviewer, Thomas S, praises the YHT-591 in various aspects except the included speaker wires which need to be cut. Sound quality was said to be excellent, but as many of you very well know by now… Sound quality is always subjective, depending on your ears’ sensitivity.

The review covers unboxing of the components via photos, description of included components, and performance tests.

The good thing about Yamaha HTIBs is the fact that they use a true receiver compared to the ones marketed by Samsung, Sony, Philips, which commonly use proprietary connectors and an integrated media player/receiver.

If ever you’d get the itch to upgrade your speakers, you won’t encounter any problems because you can easily connect them to the included receiver of the YHT-591.

The YHT-591 retails for $649 but is available through various retailers/e-tailers for around close to six benjamins. Amazon has it for $599.95. Be sure to purchase yours from an authorized Yamaha reseller, otherwise warranty will be void.

Amazon Kindle 2 Leaning on Books

Amazon is slashing $60 off the price of its wireless reading e-ink device, the Kindle 2. While the Kindle 2’s screen may appear diminutive compared to its bigger-screened brother, the Kindle DX, it’s definitely more portable.

The Kindle 2 is pretty much the same as the 9.7-inch-screened Kindle DX, with the exception of the latter having display rotation, bigger storage capacity and, of course, bigger screen.

Amazon’s Kindle 2 is now just $299, down from its initial price of $359 almost five months ago.
