Nvidia released a new set of Windows 7 beta drivers for Geforce 6,7,8, 9, 100,and 200-series desktop GPUs and install WDDM v1.1 for any series newer than the 8xxx line.


Whats new in 185.81

  • Adds support for the new GeForce GTX 275 GPU.
  • Adds support for CUDA 2.2 for improved performance in GPU Computing applications. See CUDA for more details.
  • Expands GPU hardware acceleration for the NVIDIA Video Encoding library to GPUs with less than 32 cores. Applications using this library include CyberLink PowerDirector 7, Nero Move it 1.5, Loilo SuperLoiloScope MARS, and CyberLink MediaShow Espresso.
  • Adds support for Ambient Occlusion – the newest NVIDIA Control Panel feature to offer enhanced 3D gaming realism exclusively to GeForce GPUs.
  • Accelerates performance in several 3D applications.Some examples include Up to 22% performance increase in Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled,Up to 14% performance increase in Far Cry 2,Up to 11% performance increase in Fallout 3 with antialiasing enabled,Up to 45% performance increase in Mirror's Edge with antialiasing enabled.
  • Automatically installs the new PhysX System Software version 9.09.0408.

After the release of Windows 7 RC to MSDN/Tech net subscribers,Microsoft have a video on What’s new in the Windows RC.This video is from the Springboard series and mainly is for users who are in the Win 7 Beta or in the older builds and need more info on what are the changes in the RC release.Those who are not able to download from MSDN/Technet don’t worry as you need to wait a day more for the public release of Windows 7 RC 7100 at Microsoft downloads.

TechNet made the video available here. You can download the video using firefox making use of plugins or else you can get the direct video link here.The video basically talks about the various features of RC like

  • Improvements in Startup shutdown etc.
  • Power plans.
  • New network drivers.
  • UAC panel on high integrity process.
  • Taskbar scaling.
  • Quick launch shortcuts.
  • Jump list.
  • In private browsing.
  • Windows themes and sounds.
  • Virtualisation technology with Windows XPM mode.

More info on the changes in RC can be found here.Windows 7 RC will expire on March 1, 2010. After that pc will reboot every two hours. The license of windows 7 RC will expire June 1, 2010.In the RC the ‘Send feedback’ button is removed. If there is a bug /issue which needs to be reported then all you need to do is give rundll32.exe FeedbackTool.dll,ShowWizard in run dialog box to Send feedback.More info i get will keep you updated:wink:
