| Pre deets continue to trickle out; Office 2007 support in the mix Posted: 05 May 2009 04:38 PM PDT Still no word on pricing or a release date, but the kind chappie running Inside Sprint Now has posted up a little Pre FAQ to tide us over. If you’re inclined to believe this information indeed comes from deep within Sprint customer service — and we’ve no reason to not to — you’ll find some interesting factoids in the mix, including full support for Office 2007, ringback tones, and custom ringtones. There’s also a promise of video recording support and wireless PictBridge printing sometime down the line. Great, great — but we’d really rather learn all this stuff on our own after release, you know? [Via PalmInfoCenter] See the original post here: |
| Rumor: Nokia E71i to get 5MP camera soon Posted: 05 May 2009 04:16 PM PDT
In case the regular old Nokia E71 isn’t good enough for you, rumor has it that there will soon be another version of the device available called the E71i. And while this version will be very much like the standard E71, it will have a significant camera upgrade and a few other perks.
The upgrade of most import here is the move up from a 3.2-megapixel camera to a 5-megapixel camera. This is good enough to please most folks. Other additions include an improved operating system, the Symbian S60 FP2. You can also expect a new color option as well called mocha brown, changing up the E71i to make it stand out from the standard E71 and the E71x. If the current rumors are correct, you can expect the Nokia E71i to appear at Nokia World in September or in October at the latest. Relevant Entries on SlashGear

| Samsung’s slim BD-P4600 Blu-ray player gets reviewed Posted: 05 May 2009 04:06 PM PDT Samsung’s new BD-P4600 Blu-ray player certainly impresses on first glance and, according to the folks at CNET, it has quite a bit more going for it than just good looks, even if it’s not entirely without its share of faults. On the upside, the player and its HQV image processing can apparently hold its own when it comes to the all-important question of image quality, and it packs no shortage of non-Blu-ray features as well, including Netflix and Pandora support, a bundled WiFi USB dongle, 1GB of on-board memory, and support for media streaming off a connected PC. Unfortunately, that protruding USB dongle does cramp the style of the player somewhat and, while the PC streaming is certainly welcome, it can apparently be a bit of a chore to get set up properly. Of course, there’s also the small matter of the $500 price tag, although CNET says Samsung’s cheaper BD-P3600 model should provide an adequate, if slightly less slim substitute for those looking for some more bang for the buck. | Wing Lounge Chair - The Only NASA Certified Chair [Space] Posted: 05 May 2009 04:00 PM PDT This chair is notable in two ways. One, it’s the largest single piece of bendwood used to make a chair, and two, it’s the only chair tested by NASA and certified by The Space Foundation. Of course, it’s also a sweet chair. Your body is cushioned by open cell visco elastic memory foam, used on NASA’s spacecrafts, and looks conducive to some serious nap action. No price that we can find, so contact Lyx for a quote. | Lingo: Can a mouse be too small? Posted: 05 May 2009 03:41 PM PDT There are quite a few mini PC mouses coming out of Japan, but now Tokyo-based TEC is saying their Lingo, a wireless device, is the smallest of them all [JP]. The Lingo weighs only 23g and is sized at 27.5 × 60 × 19mm so the claim doesn't sound too outrageous. The 800dpi/2.4Ghz Lingo works within a range of usage of about 10m (battery life: about 15 hours). It goes on sale in Japan next month in black and white and costs $50. People living outside Japan should try and ask the Japan Trend Shop, Gizmine or Geek Stuff 4 U to get one for them. Continued here: |

| Philips SBD7000, SBD8100 iPod docks get the hands-on treatment Posted: 05 May 2009 03:34 PM PDT It may not stand out from the crowd quite as much as some iPod docks, but Philips’ rotating SBD7000 speaker dock should still turn a few heads, and keep you entertained for at least a few minutes as you spin and tilt your iPod to your heart’s content. Apart from that somewhat nifty feature, however, the $120 dock is expectedly pretty standard fare, with it including cradles for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPod nano 4G, a four-AA battery compartment to let you take it out on the road and, well, not much else. Those looking for a little something extra can also opt for Philips’ $150 SBD8100 model (pictured after the break), which employs a more standard horizontal design but adds a motorized rotating dock to its bag of tricks. | Let’s go to Blizzcon and have the time of our lives! Posted: 05 May 2009 03:30 PM PDT It's time for Blizzon again. Yes, Blizzard's annual pilgrimage-for-so-so-many returns this August, but tickets for the show itself go on sale on May 16. And this year there's an Internet stream you can watch! That's good news for those of you who cannot (or do not want) to travel to Anaheim and dole out the $125 per ticket. Right, so like last year the convention floor will be shown on DirecTV pay-per-view. But this year! Yes, this year you can order an Internet stream to watch the shenanigans go down from the comfort of your own home or office. Both the DirecTV pay-per-view and Internet stream will cost $39.95, which, eh, seems a little high to me. Price this at $20 and I could see someone like, say, me even consider buying the stream. (As it stands we may force Greg to go down there, since he's closest.) Anyway, people who order the pay-per-view or stream will receive an exclusive Word of Warcraft in-game item. What, exactly, that is, Blizzard will reveal at a later date. Go here to see the original: |
