Media Monkey version 3 adalah sebuah software Music Manager dan Music Player. Tidak seperti winamp yang lebih fokus sebagai pemutar music saja, Media Monkey bisa lebih dari itu. Banyak kelebihan dan feature andalan dari software yang satu ini.

Media Monkey kali ini hadir dengan versi barunya yaitu versi 3.0.7.1191. Perubahan pada versi ini adalah : Updated hash calculation for iPhone / iPod Touch sync. Tentu dengan update terbarunya Media Monkey bekerja dengan lebih baik, karena terus memperbaiki keurangan pada versi sebelumnya.

Media Monkey bersifat freeware namun juga terdapat Media Monkey versi Gold. Pada Media Monkey yang freeware ada beberapa fitur yang tidak dapat kita nikmati karena si pengembang software ini sengaja mematikan fitur-fitur tersebut. Agar dapat menikmati keselurahan fitur tersebut maka kita harus melakukan “upgrade” ke versi yang GOLD. Namun untuk upgrade tidaklah gratis, kita harus membayar mulai $ 19.95. Perbedaan yang ditawarkan Media Monkey untuk penggunanya dibandingkan music player lainnya adalah makin memudahkan pengguna untuk menggunakannya. Setelah selesai di install maka Media Monkey secara otomatis akan mengindeks file musik yang terdapat pada hardisk kita seperti MP3, AAC (M4A), OGG, WMA, FLAC, MPC, WAV, CDA, M3U, PLS . Begitu selesai mengindex maka media monkey siap kita gunakan.

Hampir semua informasi lagu terindex di database media monkey, mulai dari nama file, judul lagu, nama penyanyi, album, ukuran file, bitrate. Atau intinya semua tag yang ada di file musik akan terdata. Dengan index ini, kita bisa melakukan pencarian lagu sesuai dengan keywordnya.
