Nexus gets multi-touch , 3G update Posted: 03 Feb 2010 01:42 AM PST As you know Nexus One offers a blazing fast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, a gorgeous 480×800 AMOLED 3.7″ display, and runs Google’s Android 2.1 operating system. For all of its pluses, there have been a few niggling issues that have annoyed users right from the start. There were early reports of 3G connectivity issues with the device on T-Mobile’s network. Users were complaining of the smartphone hopping from 2G to 3G sporadically and in some cases, users were reporting that 3G was not active at all on the phone. Another problem that bugged users familiar with other popular smart phones like the iPhone and Palm Pre was the lack of multi-touch support. This feature omission was made even more glaring by the fact that Android phones available overseas were being sold with multi-touch enabled.Previously i had posted about how to enable Multi touch for Google Nexus one, and today Google has officially announced it. Nexus users will now be able to receive an over-the-air (OTA) software update on all phones. This update fixes the 3G connectivity issues, but also adds multi-touch support as well. “Pinch-to-zoom” functionality is now enabled in the Maps, Gallery, and Browser apps. The Google Goggles app has now also been added to the phone along with an updated Maps program (version 3.4).This update includes sync of favorite items with maps.google.com, search suggestions with maps.google.com history and night mode navigation. In order to access the update, you will receive a message on your phone’s notification bar. Just download the update, wait for it to install, and you should be all set,” read a posting on the Google Nexus One blog. “This update will be rolled out gradually to phones – and most users might not receive the notification until the end of the week. We hope you enjoy these new features and look forward to your feedback.” Start Slide Show with PicLens Lite |

Intel’s New Overclocking Gem explored Posted: 02 Feb 2010 08:48 PM PST Intel 32nm processors dubbed Clarkdale, are to be launched next week. But its capabilities are already being explored by over-clockers from around the world. The picture shows the overclocking feat achieved by NickShih from Xtremesystems forum. He reached a speed of 6.9GHz on a Core i5 32nm edition. As you can see, the voltage is set at 1.94V which is not that high, considering the frequency achieved. With this proof at hand, we can now be a bit more confident about Clarkdales achieving good clocks on lower volts, thus letting us have a fair share of the OC fun. Anyhow it was expected, so lets see if it’s for real once it has been released. Have a look at the screen shot to get all the details.
The config used was Intel Core i5 1156 LGA 32nm coupled with EVGA P55 3X SLI Classified. This did a overclock of 6921.8MHZ with multiplier of 27 and bus speed of 256.36.The stock rated FSB was 3076.35 Mhz.So you can see the capability of Core i5 32nm chip. System specification: Processor: Clarkdale 3.47GMotherboard: EVGA P55 3X Classified (E659)
This was not all.The same guy gave a update too .He clocked a max of 7.11Ghz with a different machine but the processor was of same batch although it was a different piece. Here are the specs he used to clock 7.11Ghz System specification:
With the above config 7003.0 MHZ(7.11GHZ maxed) was clocked with multiplier of 27 and bus speed of 259.4.The stock rated FSB was 3112.4 Mhz.Here is the screen shot of SuperPi calculation as well as CPUz validator.Lets hope such awesome batches come soon.
