Windows 7 has become the fastest selling operating system at the UK high street electronics specialists Currys and PC World, as well as online store Dixons.co.uk, according to the chains’ owner DSGi.Within 12 hours of being made available for pre-ordering, sales of Microsoft’s forthcoming package were more than 25 per cent of the total annual sales of its much-derided predecessor, Windows Vista, said the firm.

This is what Alan Dardis head of trading, software, at DSGi had to say

We are seeing an unprecedented level of demand for this new operating system. With other retailers already running out of stock, we expect demand to only increase so we would recommend customers order early to ensure they are not disappointed.

Amazon said earlier said that more copies of Windows 7 were pre-ordered from its UK site in eight hours than Windows Vista achieved in its entire 17-week pre-order period. So this has been the best and most successful OS for Microsoft.Keep rocking.

One more release of wordpress is out. This release fixes the critical bug in admin login.Someone has found a sneak peak way to reset the admin password without any confirmation which could lead to have the control of admin panel once he logs in.Even Wordpress release 2.8.3 is vulnerable to this attack.

Here is the problem stated by the Wordpress team few days before

Yesterday a vulnerability was discovered: a specially crafted URL could be requested that would allow an attacker to bypass a security check to verify a user requested a password reset. As a result, the first account without a key in the database (usually the admin account) would have its password reset and a new password would be emailed to the account owner. This doesn't allow remote access, but it is very annoying.

What hackers do is when they give this link

http://www.domainname.com/wp-login.php?action=rp&key[]=

Replace domain name with any domain name built with wordpress.

The normal password reset page asks you to enter the username or email address and by chance you get it right then link is sent to the email address associated with that account to reset your password. Here password is not sent but hackers have found a way in which they simply bypass that check and the password is reset by passing a special value in the key parameter of the reset page URL.So to fix this upgrade to wordpress 2.8.4 by a automatic upgrade or check out one more way of fixing this by Umair Jadoon. Thanks buddy for the fix.So make you blog secure asap.Highly recommended.
