Palm Pre on-screen keyboard coming soon?

Palm Pre On-Screen Keyboard in Pre-Alpha Development

Palm Pre users have voiced complaints regarding the exclusion of an on-screen keyboard. It looks like the Pre will have one which is based on the phone’s symbol input panel. Instead of having showing symbols, regular alphabet characters are present instead.

As the patch is still in pre-alpha testing phase, it’s not recommended to be installed unless you know the ins-and-outs of the Palm Pre. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.

The in-development on-screen keyboard works in portrait and landscape mode, in all applications and in all fields. The great thing about this patch when it’s done is, you don’t have to flick the Palm Pre’s slide out everytime you have to send text messages (especially when you just need to send short messages).

Corsair introduces the fastest 128GB USB flash drive. Most convenient? Not quite.

Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB USB Flash Drive (Banner)

Corsair has announced the immediate availability of the world’s fattest fastest 128GB USB flash drive, the Flash Voyager GT 128GB. The portable memory device can achieve read speeds of up to 32MB/sec and write speeds of up to 25.6MB/sec.

The Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB is definitely not one of the prettier USB flash drives that you can get your hands on. It looks extremely bulky and clunky for a portable flash memory device. But hey, if you need something with big capacity, faster than the usual USB flash drive transfer speeds, then this product is your guy!

Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB USB Flash Drive

  • Incredible Performance–the world's fastest USB flash drive
    32MB/sec read
    Up to 28MB/sec write
  • Compact, convenient design
75% smaller than a typical portable hard disk drive
No cables needed–just plug it in and go!
  • Protect your data
The Voyager GT 128 has no moving parts, making it virtually shockproof
Portable USB hard drives are much more susceptible to damage when dropped
The rubber housing and sealed construction provide water resistance so minor accidents don't turn into major disasters!
  • Backed by Corsair–a respected industry leader with a passion for quality products and great service and support

The Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB is available immediately for around $400. You can get it from Amazon, NewEgg or BeachAudio.

The Kingston DataTraveler 200 128GB is hovering around at the same price point, but the Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB beats the Kingston’s transfer speeds by a huge margin.

Microsoft Zune HD (Powered by nVidia Tegra)

Microsoft’s Zune HD can now be pre-ordered via Amazon, Best Buy, WalMart or the Microsoft Store. The 16GB fetches for $219.99 while 32GB goes for $289.99. The Zune HD will be available at retail locations starting September 15, 2009.

The Zune HD is powered by an nVidia chip called Tegra which enables it to output 720p video on a HDTV. There’s not much point watching a 720p video on the 480 x 272 resolution screen because you won’t see the additional details and the video is downscaled. Additional accessories are required for HD video playback.

In addition to HD video playback, the Zune HD also features a built-in HD Radio receiver, OLED multi-touch touchscreen, integrated WiFi and web browser.

WHAT: With a sleek and stylish design, Zune HD is the first to combine these features:

  • Built-in HD Radio™ receiver. Allows you to listen to higher-quality sound than is available from traditional radio channels, as well as access additional programming through HD2 and HD3 multicast channels from many of your favorite local FM radio stations at no extra cost.
  • HD video output capabilities. Supports HD video playback from the device through a premium HDMI A/V docking station (sold separately) directly to an HDTV in 720p, making it easy to enjoy better-than-DVD-quality video on your own big screen at home.
  • OLED touch screen. Allows you to easily flip through music, movies and other content. The 3.3-inch glass screen and 16:9 widescreen format display (480×272 resolution) offer a premium viewing experience.
  • Built-in Wi-Fi. Allows for browsing, streaming or downloading new music from Zune Marketplace.
  • Internet browser. Full-screen Web browsing, optimized for the multitouch screen with zoom-in and zoom-out gestures.
  • Accessories, at home and on the road. Zune HD and AV Dock charges and syncs players while playing supported 720p HD videos on HDTVs. Play HD Radio, music and podcasts from your Zune HD device through your car stereo using the Zune Premium Car Pack.

WHY: Pre-order now to be one of the first to experience the new Zune HD's advanced design, innovative technology and rich multimedia capabilities powered by the NVIDIA Tegra chip ultralow-power HD processor.

SVS SB13-Plus SB16-Ultra (SB-Series) sealed subwoofers pre-final specifications sheet?

Posted: 14 Aug 2009 02:00 AM PDT

SVS SB-Series Sealed Subwoofers (SB12-Plus, SB13-Plus and SB-16-Ultra)

SVS appears to be finalizing the specifications sheet of their highly anticipated family of sealed subwoofers which joins the SB12-Plus with the all-new SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra.

The entry level SB-Series SB12-Plus still retains its normal pricing amidst the introduction of the higher models. All SVS SB-Series sealed subwoofers will come in a front-firing cubed box design.

Finish SB12-Plus SB13-Plus SB16-Ultra
Charcoal Black $699 N/A N/A
Oak and Rosenut $749 $1,199 $1,249
Piano Gloss Black $749 $1,799 $1,899

Both the SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra will be powered by 1000W RMS BASH digital amplifiers (with DSP) as previously mentioned.

Weight and frequency response characteristics have not yet been finalized (as indicated by “est“ as in estimate) and there is no particular mention of wireless connectivity for both, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that SVS is staying on track with that.

There is also no confirmation whether the rumored October 2009 release date for the SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra is set in stone.
