Palm Pre on-screen keyboard coming soon? Posted: 14 Aug 2009 12:00 PM PDT Palm Pre users have voiced complaints regarding the exclusion of an on-screen keyboard. It looks like the Pre will have one which is based on the phone’s symbol input panel. Instead of having showing symbols, regular alphabet characters are present instead.
As the patch is still in pre-alpha testing phase, it’s not recommended to be installed unless you know the ins-and-outs of the Palm Pre. Don’t tell me I didn’t warn you. The in-development on-screen keyboard works in portrait and landscape mode, in all applications and in all fields. The great thing about this patch when it’s done is, you don’t have to flick the Palm Pre’s slide out everytime you have to send text messages (especially when you just need to send short messages). Corsair introduces the fastest 128GB USB flash drive. Most convenient? Not quite. Posted: 14 Aug 2009 10:00 AM PDT Corsair has announced the immediate availability of the world’s fattest fastest 128GB USB flash drive, the Flash Voyager GT 128GB. The portable memory device can achieve read speeds of up to 32MB/sec and write speeds of up to 25.6MB/sec.
The Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB is definitely not one of the prettier USB flash drives that you can get your hands on. It looks extremely bulky and clunky for a portable flash memory device. But hey, if you need something with big capacity, faster than the usual USB flash drive transfer speeds, then this product is your guy!
The Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB is available immediately for around $400. You can get it from Amazon, NewEgg or BeachAudio. The Kingston DataTraveler 200 128GB is hovering around at the same price point, but the Corsair Flash Voyager GT 128GB beats the Kingston’s transfer speeds by a huge margin. Microsoft Zune HD available for pre-order via Amazon, Best Buy, WalMart and Microsoft Store Posted: 14 Aug 2009 04:30 AM PDT Microsoft’s Zune HD can now be pre-ordered via Amazon, Best Buy, WalMart or the Microsoft Store. The 16GB fetches for $219.99 while 32GB goes for $289.99. The Zune HD will be available at retail locations starting September 15, 2009.
The Zune HD is powered by an nVidia chip called Tegra which enables it to output 720p video on a HDTV. There’s not much point watching a 720p video on the 480 x 272 resolution screen because you won’t see the additional details and the video is downscaled. Additional accessories are required for HD video playback. In addition to HD video playback, the Zune HD also features a built-in HD Radio receiver, OLED multi-touch touchscreen, integrated WiFi and web browser.

SVS SB13-Plus SB16-Ultra (SB-Series) sealed subwoofers pre-final specifications sheet? Posted: 14 Aug 2009 02:00 AM PDT SVS appears to be finalizing the specifications sheet of their highly anticipated family of sealed subwoofers which joins the SB12-Plus with the all-new SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra.
The entry level SB-Series SB12-Plus still retains its normal pricing amidst the introduction of the higher models. All SVS SB-Series sealed subwoofers will come in a front-firing cubed box design.
Both the SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra will be powered by 1000W RMS BASH digital amplifiers (with DSP) as previously mentioned. Weight and frequency response characteristics have not yet been finalized (as indicated by “est“ as in estimate) and there is no particular mention of wireless connectivity for both, so let’s keep our fingers crossed that SVS is staying on track with that. There is also no confirmation whether the rumored October 2009 release date for the SB13-Plus and SB16-Ultra is set in stone. [via AVS Forum] See also:
