Seat Belt – A Life Saving Belt!

Posted: 12 Jun 2012 06:26 PM PDT

Life is the most precious thing on the earth. To live long we not only have to eat well and exercise but also follow some necessary rules of safety. Wearing a seat belt while driving a car is one of them. Lot of people ignore this thinking its just a belt that its incapable of saving a life. For those of you who are still under than misconception let me tell you that it is much more than just a belt. It demands urgent attention because death caused by accidents ranks third after cancers and heart disease.

Seat Belt - The Secret of a Long Life!

Seat Belt - The Secret of a Long Life!

You will be surprised to know that wearing a seat belt can reduce crash injuries up to 50 percent. Now that's not something you can ignore. Realizing this use of seat belts increased to 84 percent in 2010 in comparison to 69 percent in 1999.

This realization saved 69,000 lives between 2006 and 2010. I guess we should learn a lesson from this. If this is not proof enough for you I will show you the negative side of the issue. You will see the importance of the driver wearing the seat belt. According to a survey 63 percent of children under the age of four were unrestrained because the driver didn't wear his seat belt. On the other hand a sensible driver with a Seat Belt managed to have 75 percent of the children well restrained. You also need to know that you don't need to go on a highway to wear a seat belt. In fact most life threatening accidents occur within 25 miles of your home. Even at a speed less than 40 mph. So don't wait to go on a long drive! Now let us explore the mechanism of the seat belt.

The primary object of the seat belt is to protect you from hitting yourself to the dashboard or the windshield. This will prevent you from banging yourself due to inertia. The lap belt and the shoulder belt are placed across the pelvis and the rib cage as they are more delicate than other parts of the human body. The webbing of your seat belt is made flexible so you don't stop suddenly. They are made in such a way that they can extent and retract. This makes it become tighter to hold you at the time of crisis. One thing you must avoid is putting the seat belt behind your back or under your arm. This will not serve the purpose. The National Traffic Highway Safety Administration has clearly instructed us on the correct way of wearing a seat belt. First thing on the list is to pull the belt across the middle of your chest and taking it near your hip from under your stomach.

I have some more things to add to your to – do list. When you buy a new care make sure the seat belt fits correctly. If it doesn't, get help from your dealer to set it right. Call your car manufacturer if needed. If your some one who likes to drive a car of an old model, make sure you get the safety that is available in the new ones. Usually it is the teens, men in rural areas, pick up drivers, drivers at night and drunken drivers who at a higher risk because these are the ones who avoid wearing seat belts. If you love and value your life wear a seat belt and don't let any truck passing by take it away! So do you promise to wear a seat belt each time you drive?

Kamal Haasan’s Vishwaroopam and His Hollywood Plans!

Posted: 11 Jun 2012 12:00 PM PDT

The first thing we look for in a movie is a good star cast. For many of us a star in the lead role becomes the reason for watching it. But here's someone who rubbishes these ideas. Actor – filmmaker Kamal Haasan talking about the cast of his most ambitious film Viswaroopam said that he wants talented actors for his film and not stars. The film will come before the audience in Hindi and Tamil.

This bi lingual film has Kamal Haasan himself in the lead role and supporting him will be Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah and Jaideep Ahlawat and Rahul Bose. Talking about his choice of actors at the recent IIFA Awards he says “Casting Jaydeep, Andrea and Pooja was easy as I was looking for talent and I found it in them.”

Sources say that Deepika Padukone was initially approached for a role but the lady turned it down. When asked about this Kamal Haasan said “We didn’t get the dates we wanted from her so we let her go. I wouldn’t like to name her. Her name was suggested by my financier, but I am happy with the people I am working with in this film.” The trick that makes his films work is his understanding of the viewpoint of the audience. When Kamal Haasan makes a film he puts himself in the place of the audience and tries to predict what they would like to see. “Audiences are something that we are scared of. We are so paranoid of audiences that we forget to realize that we filmmakers are also one of them.” I think this trick is working pretty well with him.

While this film awaits its release date, let us take a look at the actors Hollywood plans. Some insiders at IIFA revealed that the actor will open up about his Hollywood venture in a day or two. He is likely to work with Barrie M Osborne who is also the co producer of Vishwaroopam. Apparently they were to start work on this four years ago but things didn’t work out. When someone at the IIFA enquired about the same the actor said “Sure, I hope so. Once Barrie Osborne is here, we could divulge some more of our plans.” If sources are to be believed he will not only act in the film but will direct it too!

Now that’s great news, isn’t it? So lets wish Kamal Haasan the very best for Viswaroopam and all his future projects. We hope he keeps entertaining us this way for many more years to come!
